December 13 sightings

Arriving at 10 am I went to the hide being in the shade it was cold , and the birds seemed to be on a go slow then at 11.17 birds started to feed . As usual there were the Blue , Great , Coal and Long tailed tits flying in and out . A Robin turned up along with Chaffinch , Blackbirds , Dunlin . Later Two male and one female G S Woodpecker fed feverishly , in the silver birch on the far side two Ravens and a young Male Sparrow-hawk settled in the upper branches , only to leave in a attempt to catch a chaffinch . Then things went quiet for half an hour until half one when a flock of fourteen Crossbill flocked on the large oak to the left , wonderful first time sighting . They did come down to the pond unfortunately an inconsiderate visitor slammed the door shut and as one they took flight . I will post one photo later of them in t,he tree . Also seen today Fieldfare , Redwing and thrush
