Do you ever open the Victorian house for the public to look round at headquarters at The Lodge where all the headquarter staff work?. I'm sure there must be alot of RSPB members would love to look round the inside the house or do you ever have open days for the public to look round the inside of the house?
Regards,
Ian.
I will ask the question THOMO and get back to you.
Thanks, Claire - I'd love to see the house as well. Most historic places interest me.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Hello, yes we do offer tours and these occur most years. They are often planned well in advance and usually occur when the offices are closed. Sometimes these tours are led by a local historian who is able to give a detailed history of the building. Once I have an idea of some dates I will post these up for you or direct to where they can be found.
I've tried a search via Google for information on these tours of the house to no avail. It's good they apparantly do occasional tours, but arn't public Knoledge as there's nothing about it on the RSPB's website. Maybe there should be more publicity made available about these tours.
Thanks, Claire - that would be great.
Have you got a site for those days when you can look round the house at The Lodge yet? Hopefully you can help!
Hi Thomo
For events held at the Lodge, they are announced on the events page on the Lodge reserve website linked here, however these events currently are not listed but may appear at some stage - I would recommend ringing the reserve team directly to see when the next event is scheduled, please call 01767 680541
Thanks
Warden Intern at Otmoor.
Thanks for that.
Hi,
A little info on The Lodge House tours.
We have in the past organised one open day a year, as The Lodge house is a working environment. This year we decided not to run one, which explains why you didn't find it on any web sites. It's generally felt that because the rooms are set up as offices, its best to show the house and gardens from the exterior on our general walks at The reserve.
That's a bit disappointing! Will there be a tour anytime during 2014?
