Saltholme 'wins' in the news

Now was I hearing things?

Just been listening to the local BBC news + there you were having won awards last night, along with Bamborough Castle + the lighting of Hadrians Wall.

I came on here expecting everyone to be buzzing, . . . silence!! Tried to find it on BBC News - nothing , so googled it but wasn't sure what I was googling, so found nothing!! Lol. Perhaps everyone is recovering from the celebrations. I really hope I heard right.

Have never visited, so will have to bring the boys down one Sat!!

  • Hi osprey,

Just getting to grips with the forum, so thanks for your message.  Hopefully we'll soon get more people posting on the forum.

October was a golden month at Saltholme - in every way possible.  We had so many awards in the pipeline that we had to hold our horses so that we weren't blowing our own trumpet too much.

Not only did we scoop an amazing gold award (We actually won a bronze too) at the North East Tourism Awards, but Saltholme's visitor centre came out highly commended in the national Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors Awards in London.  This meant that our bricks and mortar are world class!

Look forward to seeing you (if you've not been already!)

    Ben.

  • Thanks for the reply Ben.Sorry it's taken a while to come back here, looked in a few times, nothing happening so didn't look in again for a while. It's good to see this board moving a bit more. Still not managed a visit to Saltholme quite a wee jaunt for us from Mid Northumberland.

Delighted to see that a 'conservation building' has been recognised by the wider world, world class bricks + mortar, are rather wonderful. The piece I saw was on the BBC NE News, about the North East Tourist Award, a good news story can have a really positive impact.

Will venture your way with my 4 wee boys soon, I hope, the idea of the adventure plyground apeals to them!!
