Saw this little chap at the Wetlands today. He was no more than about 7" from nose to tail.

I'm guessing it's a weasel?
"He had softly and suddenly vanished away---For the Snark was a Boojum, you see." The Hunting of the Snark, Lewis Carroll
Yes, I think it is a Weasel. I have some other shots showing the tip of the tail and there's no black to be seen. Thanks for the link.
Sorry for the repeat posts, I was using my mobile phone. What a fool!
A Stoat is weasely recognised because a weasel is stoataly different.
I'll get my coat

"IT IS SAID THAT LIFE FLASHES BEFORE YOUR EYES BEFORE YOU DIE. THAT IS TRUE, IT'S CALLED LIVING."Death - Terry Pratchett (The Last Continent).
Lots of juveniles around at the moment too, which I'm guessing this one is based on the size you mentioned. I never seem to see any though grrr.
Yeah I'm sure it was a juvenile. I tried to sneak closer for a better shot but unfortunately I was down wind of it and once I got within 20 yards he vanished for good into the long grass. I do think I was very fortunate to grab the shots I did.
Thanks everyone for the posts.
Does Weasely Stoat have a friend called Parry Otter?
