I understand waxwings have arrived in Newport but not as I know yet at the Wetlands. Around ten have beeen sighted in Newport. There have also been sightings of around 50+ birds in the Brynmawr area. Let's hope they turn up down the Wetlands.
Froze my .... well ... I got very cold on Thursday looking for them .. not one! ;o)
Loads of finches of various flavours tho!

"IT IS SAID THAT LIFE FLASHES BEFORE YOUR EYES BEFORE YOU DIE. THAT IS TRUE, IT'S CALLED LIVING."Death - Terry Pratchett (The Last Continent).
Was out and about this morning in Newport when the temp was -8 degrees. Saw a flock of 15 waxwings in flight, calls heard and yellow flashes visible but they did not land - and never returned despite me waiting another hour. Absolutely frozen!
Popped down to Halfords on the Maesglas Retail Park at lunchtime. Plenty of berries left to eat, the odd Robin, female blackbird, etc. but not a sniff of a Waxwing.
Had a nice bacon roll though. :-)
