Took my brother down to Newport Wetlands last night. It blooming freezing, but the sunset made it all worthwhile. Once I got the PC back up and running I will post a couple of pictures I took.
We went looking for the alusive Little Owls, but once again they were ... well .. alusive! ;o)
Saw signs of migration underway though. A large flock of geese, I guess they numbered around 20-25 birds flew over us in a perfect and classic "V" formation. Briefly spotted a fox dart across the path ahead of us. The swans all looked brilliant lit in the setting sun, larger numbers of them there now.
The estuary had quite a collection of birds on it. A small number of Little Egret (half a dozen at most), a small flock of possibly Bar Tailed Godwits and the usual collection of gulls, black headed and black backed, all feeding on the incoming tide.
It was my first out of hours visit there, seems a lot calmer and peaceful. There was one other person there parked up outside the gates, never saw them .. maybe they found the owls??
