I was lucky enough to witness this Heron eat a number of eels as i watched from the new viewing platform in Goldcliff. The light was poor and the cloud cover was persistent because there was no wind but this had the advantage of making the water mirror-like. The quality of the last few photos is a bit ropey but i've included them because they convey the struggle the Heron had actually swallowing the slippery eel.
Brilliant John! I've got some pics from back in August at Pont-y-Pair falls at Betwys y Coed of a young heron with an eel which had wrapped itself round his beak and was comical to watch the - would he wouldn't he - fight for about 20 mins :). Your really starting to get some fantastic results at that platform, great pics
