Earlier this year I saw my first Nightingale in this country at RSPB Highnam Woods. I managed to get a few recordings and I've just finished sequencing them into a video. The clips are definitely compromised by traffic noise from the busy A40 Gloucester road and by the fact that to keep pace with its movement through the trees I had to take the camera off the tripod. That said I hope it's of interest to anybody who hasn't seen or heard one before.
Brilliant as usual John. With all this footage you have compiled I'm sure local clubs would love for you to give talks.
Thanks for the complement David, although I think I might struggle with giving talks as my birding knowledge is very limited. Really it's been a case of shoot first and ask questions later!
Wonderful photos, John (and I have not yet listened to the video--the sound is not working on this laptop at present!).
Kind regards, Ann
John that has just brought tears to my eyes, wonderful and so clear and even gives me hope with my bridge camera.
Lot to learn
Fantastic footage John, I've never seen or heard a Nightingale before so truly wonderful to view your video. What a superb bird it is.

Thanks Ann, hope you get to hear it soon as the song is unbelievably powerful!
Gaynor it's wonderful to hear that you were moved by it - I have got a DSLR but can't afford one of those massive lenses needed for distant shots and I find the bridge camera works great at the sort of distances that we're faced with so I swear by it.
Thanks Hazel, it is an extraordinary vocalist and I feel privileged to have been able to share the song with you.
Cheers Bob, it is difficult to catch a glimpse of one even when they are calling from a bush right in front of your. but I stuck with it and perseverance paid off!
