Afternoon all, hoping for some help please solve a family discussion - is this chap/ess a willow warbler ?? Not seen one before but that said we're all newbies to this, not one I've taken but my son and his girlfriend visited there with her family yesterday and it was his girlfriend who took the snap.
Interestingly they also spotted what looked like a very large terrapin or possibly a turtle - is this a usual spot there ??
They also managed to spot clearly from one of the walkways what looks like possibly a moorhen nest complete with eggs (eager to point out that apart from pointing the lens through the reeds they didnt disturb the area or nest at all hence the poor quality of pic!)
Thanks in advance
Nic
Just been told by RSPB guys that its a Greenfinch so none of us were even close !! beautiful looking bird though will be looking out for the guy on next visit
The bird's a male Greenfinch. Not sure about the terrapin - probably a Red-eared as there are a lot of them about (unwanted pets let loose in the wild) but not sure.

Brill thanks Aiki - have seen them at Roath Park but hadnt realised they were here too, wonder how many chicks have fallen foul of these guys
Funnily enough I was walking on one of the walkways and spooked something. When I looked at the spot where it darted from I saw the same nest and eggs and took virtually the same photo.. After looking on the internet I think they belong to a Water Rail. That Terrapin was a terrific spot, who'd have thought? Now Terrapins will take bird's eggs so not so good for our feathered friends.
