If you get a chance pop down to Ynys-y-For Reservoir - never heard of it? - neither had I! but it's only 5 minutes from junction 27 of the M4, heading towards Rogerstone, then first road on the right past the 14 locks visitor's centre. There is a Grey Phalarope showing well - it was at a distance when i first arrived but flew towards me then went up and down the pool near the bank for about 40 minutes. I've got quite a few photos and a video which I'll post later - DIY taking precedence as no bathroom sink at the mo until I tile and fit a new one!
My suggestion is to wash at kitchen sink for a while 'til you get our vid processed!! Lol

Haha, thanks both! Well the kitchen sink is the new wash basin for the moment but I have to crack on with the DIY as we're having family staying for a wedding next week and I don't want to ask them to use the the kitchen. Naturally I'm fighting the urge to get on with the video and photos every step of the way but I'll have to fit it in between stages. :(
OK, we'll wait patiently but will want some wedding pics too by way of compensation ... Oh, & one of the new sink!! Rofl
Here are some photos - the video could take some time as there is a lot of footage to edit!
Lovely JL, thanks!
Thanks Wendy! and here's the video!
Fantastic JL, bet you burned the midnight oil to produce that welcome vid, comments on YT!
What a beauty John -great photos and video, such a busy little thing (wish I was in wales at the moment!). How brilliant for you to see one so close too, thanks for taking the time to post -I think we can excuse you to carry on your DIY duties now, lol!
Great to see this rarity John as it scurries around the water never keeping still for a second so well done on maintaining such brilliant focus throughout. I saw one at Burton Mere on the Wirral last year and was surprised at just how tiny this bird is - I was looking for the size of a teal lol !!!
