After seeing just a few species in the past few weeks the sunshine seems to have brought out a lot more today. I heard and saw a couple of Beardies in the reed bed on the left approaching the first screen - and in fact heard one on the right hand side as well. Female Pheasant acting like a 'Road Runner'. On reaching the screen I saw two Otters doing a bit of a synchronised swim in the lagoon. Only saw them long enough to see what they were because they dived together and didn't resurface. they were heading left and from that direction I saw a Kingfisher fly across the lagoon towards the floating bridge. When I got round the corner I saw it in the little inlet by the short pontoon, where I have seen it before. Lots of Reed buntings around and nice and sunny so the photos came out O.K. Down to the hide, distant pair of Tufted Ducks and a Little Grebe a bit closer but nothing in range for a good photo. More Reed Buntings feeding on the side of the new scrape. Through the wood lots of Chaffinch, Greenfinch and Goldfinch on the ground, several Long Tailed Tits in the trees. Couldn't see the Little Owls, distant Jay. Perry Lane was the usual suspects, tits, finches and House Sparrows. Here are a few pics.
Lovely set John. Nice to see some of the reserve, the sunshine is a welcome sight. Your 5th Reed Bunting photo is particularly good, and love the Stonechat(one of my favourite birds).

Braver man than me John, I thought about going down but chickened out. Good set of pics, if the sun is in the right place at this time of year it gives great colour.
Thanks Jayne and David, really nice feedback. Definitely not going to chance it today but the weather looks good for Friday so I'll see if I can spot the Otters, Beardies or Kingfisher and maybe get a snap.
just wonderful to see and hear of so many lovely species there John, photos are brilliant, thanks for sharing :)

Think it will be Forest Farm tomorrow and then next good day after that is Sunday so will try Goldcliff/Uskmouth then.
Good luck David! Looking forward to those Kingfisher pics and possible Bittern!
Great collection John--thanks! Love the Reed Buntings and the rest, more or less fluffed up against the cold. Any one would do for your 2015 Christmas card.
Kind regards, Ann
