Had to go to Bridgend today so decided to pop in to Kenfig Pool and Parc Slip. Nothing at all at Kenfig except 2 lonely Cormorant in the far distance. Waited a while but not even a duck appeared so trogged off to Parc Slip. Bit better there with good views of Green Woodpecker and Song Thrush. Also saw Jay, Great Spotted Wodpecker and Nuthatch. No pictures of last 3 but here are Green Woodpecker and Song Thrush.
Two pictures of Song Thrush.
Great captures DB, lucky you seeing the fabulous Green Woodie! Thanks for sharing as am enthralled with this bird!

Beautiful woodpecker David! One of my faves :)
An hour spent watching from the gate, on the left, just past the exit from the copse, (furthest from the hide), will often produce a Green Woodpecker, there are often signs of disturbance of the moss on the path that are due to the woodpeckers looking for food :-)
Best regardsNigel

Thanks for posting these David, great shots. - I've yet to get a decent view of a Green Woodpecker with a camera in hand and the Song Thrush is such a difficult subject to approach, like all Thrushes. I did see a G.S.W. in the trees to the left of the path leading from the staff entrance yesterday, and a Jay down where the Little Owls usually perch, plus Goldcrest, Greenfinch, Goldfinch, Redwing and my first sighting of a Beardie for a while. The hedge on Perry Lane remains the best spot on the reserve for birding at the moment.
Lovely photos Dave. I'm another one who has yet to get a decent view of a green woodpecker so good to see yours to inow that it IS possible!
