I believe this may be the caterpillar of a Fox Moth which I saw close to the wobbly bridge yesterday. If anyone knows any different I am willing to be corrected.
Looks the part according to google images & is going to morph into an impressive looking moth!

I don't know anything about caterpillars but happened to take my own shot of one last weekend. From Google images it may be a Drinker moth caterpillar.
The first one (David's) looks like a Garden Tiger caterpillar to me.

Aiki I think you may be right and I stand corrected. Here is a picture from www.wildlifeinsight.com
Colin, looking at loads of images I think you got yours right.
Hi David - interesting thread and link to 'Wildlife Insight' - I've seen a couple of these over the past week and funnily enough both negotiating the path which must be hard work with all those stones. just love the Garden Tiger so I hope we have a bumper crop. The Scarlet Tiger Moths that I saw a couple of years ago were only on the wing for a short while so I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for those as well as the Garden Tigers which i've yet to see down there. Thanks to Aiki for the ID and to Wendy and David for their input.
