Was down in Goldclifff yesterday (I'm not mad enough to go to Uskmouth on the first sunny Saturday) and down on the bottom lagoon, mainly visible from the sea-wall hide, there were about 30 Avocet. It's amazing that they return in such numbers when their breeding is decimated by predation each year!
I don't have any particularly good pictures but I think some of the video is going to be OK.
Species seen in addition to those pictured were Greenshank, Redshank, Oystercatcher, Grey Heron, Egret, Black and Bar-Tailed Godwits,Dunlin, Shelduck, Wigeon, Teal. Shoveler, Mallard, Snipe, Curlew, Lapwing, Chaffinch, Goldfinch and Wren. Oh and a lovely set of white Fantail Doves on the roof of the farm outbuildings!
