Just sitting in the car .....

Picture it. Early mid-autumn morning. Some mist and damp about. A mixture of cloud and blue sky. The car is warm, so we'll stay in for a while. The outside is just a bit too fresh.

Then there's a pitter-patter on the roof, followed by a burst of white, the face of a small bird, some grey, some white stripes, landing on the bonnet.

Just the one bird and then another.  A pair of pied wagtails flit about the warm bonnet.

So they first warm their feet and that warms their legs. They then leap to the car park ground and peck around but nothing is found. So they fly off over the play meadow.  Two of nature's friends. One of nature's sweet moments.

And there's more. Still in the car and looking out of the window as a grey heron  flies serenely (neck tucked in) across the car park towards the heronry, and then northwards towards the wetlands. On its way for breakfast, perhaps.
