Spent a good couple of hours at the reserve today. Good to see the normal summer residents back but in addition to those a small raptor looking like a merlin appeared at around 2pm. Not sure if anyone else was there to witness this or if anyone has any experience on if there are any records of merlin visits? Not sure what else it might have been so any thoughts from regulars would be appreciated.
I had a Merlin at Balgavies Loch on 27th August 2018.
If they're thereabouts, there's no reason to think that they wouldn't be present a dozen miles away at Kinnordy.
This is a heavily cropped record shot of the bird for ID purposes.
