    Yes it is Green DY

All I have on her is that she has been the resident female at Loch Insh since at least 2008. No info on origin or parentage. Pete (Insh Marshes warden) said on Saturday that it has been the same male since 2009 - he has a metal BTO ring, but no darvic (I can corroborate that - we got some quite good views of his legs on Saturday morning).

  • Rachel this had a very clear Green DY Darvic ring and no doubt about it.  The Italian guy said he had got some great pictures and Keith said, is there a ring.  He thought DI and Keith says could it be DY. He skipped through his photographs and blew them up and a brilliant picture and the ring no so clear.

  • That's what I expected, B&B. Female green DY, male with just the metal BTO ring. This pair have been together since 2009, though the nest failed last year.

The photographer obviously struck lucky (or was more patient than us) - green DY was on the nest both times we were there, so we never saw more than the top of her head. It is incredible how much detail you can get on an up-to-date digital SLR, even without downloading the pics to a computer.

  • Rachel I wanted to ask him for a picture but did not like to ask :)

I will leave now as do not want to clog up this thread :)

  • Rachel he had a 600mm lens and she was in flight.

So he had an advantage over us.

Thanks - Ignore my question on News from other nests as you have explained all so clearly on here.

  • Osprey flying around Butterstone Loch (Not Lady or Laddie) as we had just left them.

Some of the intruders to LOTL hang around here.

  • Osprey reported on the Sussex Ornithologocal Society website as being at Thorney Island, West Sussex on the 30th and yesterday.
