Hi All. Don't forget to check last page or so of previous week for all the latest!  Granddaughter made excellent time to AZ - got there at 4 p.m. our time - an 8 hour ride with minimal (comparatively speaking) traffic through LA early this morning.  Thunder received hysterical greeting from Pepito, tiny noisy companion who wondered where Thunder had gone but was much too noisy and excitable to bring along.  Brought Oro home for successful visit after which I went on a hunt-and-scoop mission to clean up yard after two large dogs. Oh fun!  Daughter and I watched Wallace and Gromit DVD (the "were-rabbit" one) - a hoot. OH and I just remembered we have tickets for Charlie Rose (PBS interviewer) this evening so have to hose myself down, prop open my eyelids and try to stay awake for another few hours. Why do these things start at 8 p.m.?!

Thanks Alan for reminder re Phoebe (keep reminding us since I'm so busy running and fetching); four big storms due this week with threat of flooding, high winds,  power outages. Sounds like real weather!!  TerryM: Will pass on gerbil story to hamster!  Lindybird: All hankies put away now!  :-)  Congrats on the redecorating and dibnlib: I'm with you from now on - hire the folks who can do it in half the time (at four times the cost, yes, but....)

Off to comb hair and make self presentable. Have a nice Sunday all.

  • Thanks Alan have just been watching and the people on the site thinks she is now in active labour.  Can't wait to see the cubs although it will probably be difficult to see.

  • I have been watching too. Over 10000 viwers and 45000 fans on facebook. Here is a link to The Who:

  • Morning all. Looks like a quieter weather day here. Re several Haiti comments, what bothered me yesterday was reading that some amputations are being done with only ibuprofen!

Tiger: Handsome label - wonder how the beer is.

dibnlib: Wish my OH liked eating out as much as I do.  :-(

patriciat: There are some days where I feel like hiding under the throw on the couch but I'm a bit harder to miss.

Alan:  Great shot of guard-osprey!  Interesting comment about "most depressing day". My sister in Lincolnshire says it gets really depressing after New Year's when it's still dark and rainy and spring and warmth seem such a long way away. And, of course, for those still working, Monday isn't likely to be the most welcome day..    We manage to cram some official holidays into January, including Martin Luther King day (the third Monday), where government (of all kinds) buildings are closed and some businesses.

Lindybird: Haiti situation truly ghastly; seems like the almost nonexistent government has totally flown the coop.

George: Interesting info about the BIson - I think I've heard that before. Here, some people are renting out goats to keep the vegetation/grass on their property trimmed. I know the "new" Getty Museum in Los Angeles uses goats to keep their hillside clear of brush.

Margobird: Thanks for the headsup re Lily's status. I'll check her out right now!

    Take care all; back later.

  • Returned home from shopping and had lunch at the garden centre, but I don't think it was up to the standard being mentioned here today, although I did enjoy it. We are taking part in a local quiz night, tonight, to raise funds for the local coservation society. We won the Autumn quiz so now being told, we have to do the same tonight. No pressure then. Could I feel a bit off colour this evening !

Alan, Love that picture. As we no longer have a dog, was thinking that picture may work, but maybe not. I need the real bird but haven't got a local Tesco for the fish. You may be right about Monday as I see some of us are forecast to have snow showers.

  • Good Morning/Day!

Diane: Just to finish where I left off last night, I do hope your battle wounds will heal very quickly.

Tiger: That's so funny about that beer but I wonder how many people will think the bird on the label is a "Starhawk?"   =O)

Lindybird: You two were very lucky with the lightning indeed. The only other happy story I've heard (but I'm sure there are plenty of them) was from a program where they showed a man who had been struck while out on a golf course and he suddenly developed a love of music and became an accomplished pianist and composer. He'd had no interest in music previously so the lightning strike seemed to stimulate that part of his brain.

Alright then, I'm off to start my day. Take care everyone!

  • WOW Tiger what a great find!

We know someone who would appreciate this one too :)

Morning All.  Will not bore you with long stories today.

Lindybird: I always enjoy your stories. You are one of the best and funniest writers I know!!!

  • Lily the black bear appears to have produced one cub so far!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • ChloeB    Yes I know exactly who your are thinking of. Maybe it is time to try to get some samples. Mind you as you know I am not a beer drinker. We need some osprey cider, wine or whisky.

  • Lily news may be false alarm!
