Morning all: Happy new week.

MARGO: Welcome back!! :-))

Wendy: Thanks for keeping us up to date on Margo's Big Adventure.

dibnlib: How nice to bump into Margo et al.

Lindybird: Yes, June Gloom highly predictable; if you know of anyone planning to come to California in June, tell them not to expect beach weather, but can be pretty hot away from the coast. Re new dark countertops that don't show dirt, have been horrified to find globs of dried up sticky stuff on ours; now have to bend over and catch the light on the surface to see what needs to be scrubbed.

Diane: Only four feet from a deer? Wow. Pretty impressive, especially after looking at the pix! Maybe whistle a happy tune or put bells on your shoes next time?

Jay-Me: Vacation time sounds nice and relaxing!

Lynette: Thanks for clarifying which part of you is hurting! :-) Nice that all your furniture is finally set up; now enjoy it.

OK, off to fix dinner; back later.

  • Thanks for all your news folks.

OG - glad you are getting into the family history lark - I have come to a standstill until I can get some advice from a friend at church. Waiting for him to get back to me re fixing a date to come over. I will probably have to take out a subscription with one of the numerous organisations before too long so I can persue further my family history.

Lovely field of poppies, DJoanS, we have a field like that just on the outskirts of the village, not sure whether its meant to be but anyhow they have all come up.

Went over to the tip with more rubbish collected over the past few weeks then to get some Euros for our trip to France next Monday.  Been a lovely day down here but its now clouded over, rain was forecast for later in the day so it still may arrive. Just looking at the Caerlaverock chicks, look similar size to the LG chicks. Also the Glaslyn chicks.

  • Ironing done!  And OH has seized the one good day (according to forecast) to mow the lawns and is now strimming round posts and trimming edges.  I have just pruned a straggling indoor plant (don’t know the name, but some sort of Ivy) and put the bits in a plastic bag, so will go out after this wee sit down and plant some cuttings.

Margo – glad you are safe home and seeing your own doctor so you have meds straight away for that chest cold.  So pleased you got a good welcome from Billie.

Joan – tried tracing the GGrandmothers this morning, but so far seems like one was in Wiltshire and the other in Somerset – not far apart as the osprey flies, but probably not connected , or maybe a few further generations further back – and women are so much harder to pin down because of name changes.  Also running into inaccuracies and people forgetting where and when they were born when the census man came round!  Loved the field Poppies – quite right, we seldom see them like that nowadays.

Dibnlib – pleased to see you are enjoying the swimming again – and your voluntary work.  Well done!

Alicat – watch that finger – check it doesn’t get infected. Garden injuries can turn quite nasty.

Trish – sorry to read about Mia’s ears – I hope she won’t need knocking out and syringing.  Such a nuisance that animals can’t actually say what is troubling them!

Lindy – pleased the walk was a good one.

Okay, recovered a bit of energy so out to potting bench to attend to whatever-it-is!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Don't remind me OG, will have to cut our lawns before we go away otherwise they will be mini forests when we get back.  Have to try and do them on Wed as busy tomorrow.

  • Trish2 - hope Mia's ears settle down and that it is just build up wax and not something else.

Dibnib - well done you, I only manage 12 lengths when I go to the gym. Mind you last week I only did 4 as it was busy and the water was freezing in comparison to what it has been. Brrrrrrrh. Hope tomorrow sees it back up to the usual temp of 86/87 which is lovely and comfortable to swim in.

Yes, it was good news about McIlroy, well done to him and Northern Ireland.

  • Margo: This is the new post button, he said confidently.......But, I haven't used it so far myself!

ChloeB & Tiger's Osprey Data Site

    Sat track schedule Spring 2014

LG 7 days; RW & SWT nil; LDOP varies

  • Morning all:  Off to gym in a minute; book club tonight (Book is The Madonnas of Leningrad, a novel about the reminiscences (sp?) of a woman who worked at The Hermitage during WW11 and participated in the removal of the museum's artworks during the siege. Really looking forward to watching Wimbledon, but probably later matches.

Margo: Feel better soon! Great idea to put your Big Adventure on a separate thread!  Must've been nice to get such a warm welcome from Billie Whiz.  And yes, New Post is where you start a new thread/topic.

Lindybird: Love those Smiles! Wonder how that third one came about....

AQ: So, winter must be well and truly settling in down under right now?

    Djoan: Lovely poppy pix.

Alan: But you're also supposed to be getting lunch on the table and chatting to family members on the phone to qualify as a multi-tasker.  Oh, and let's not forget the ironing. :-))

dibnlib: Unfortunately, I've discovered that exercise alone no longer takes care of those after dinner chocs and biccies!  :-(

OG: You must be feeling better coz you're doing ironing! Your family history sounds a lot like ours - and many others I suspect. :-)   Fountain prep will be underway for another few days; still have to get electrician in and organize a stable, level spot where it'll go.

Alicat: When I start impaling myself on various garden implements I know it's time to pack it in!

Trish: Doubt it would work for dogs, but we used to put Hydrogen Peroxide in our ears, then lay on the couch while it bubbled away - did get rid of wax though.

OK, gotta get going. Take care ALL.

  • TRISH  Dillon has ear probs with build up of wax and originally had ear cleanser put in twice a day for a week. After last annual check up the vet recommended we use it once a month. Poor Dillon hates it.( I am in charge of grooming and OH looks after the meds) and whenever OH goes towards him with the cleanser he tries to slink away. but with the amount of wax that comes out I am afraid it is a necessary evil.

Am I right it is your turn at LG starting on 2nd July? and is it for 2 weeks? hope you get better weather than Margo.

  • LYNETTE  noticed our pool colder than usual over the last couple of weeks although there is the same sign up saying 86.5. It is rarely busy and this am there were only 4 of us at any one time. Only got out when I did as I was going to my voluntary work. Ideally if I have the time I do 40 plus lengths which is 1/2 mile plus. Occassionally I use the gym but do not enjoy it and now that I have my bike I feel I am getting my weight bearing exercise that way. There are loads of different classes to go to but again I don't do that often. It is the swimming and steam that I really enjoy

  • Dibnlib she's very good with her ear cleanser but we tend to get a good shower in it too if we're not fast enough getting away before she shakes her head!  I was going to ask the vet whether we should do something on a regular basis to control it rather than let it get to this stage again.  I must admit I'd never thought about wax being a problem in dogs.  I do feel really sorry for her though as I've had problems with waxy ears before.  It feels bad when they need doing but once I start putting drops in it's awful and just feels as though the ear's full of water all the time.   It's like an instant relief when the nurse syringes it and it clears.

  • Actually managed dinner on time tonight, then fed veg plants.  Just need to get to bed early so I can get up early for Doc appointment in the morning for “happy juice” injection.

I don’t think neighbours have Oysters on the roof – and they probably didn’t even know they had the Oystercatcher either!  It landed yesterday evening, on two legs.  Started preening, shifted to one leg and carried on preening.  Then, still on one leg, it tucked its head under its wing and slept for at least fifteen minutes!

Lynette – I have signed up for one of the genealogy sites to double-check some of the family memories - not least mine!  But that still doesn’t explain why “Aunt Dolly” was really Agnes Martha, and stuff of that sort!  Wow, time is moving on if we are so close to your holiday in France!  I hope you get a dry day to mow before you go!

I guess most of you are watching Wimbledon – too early for me to start – maybe next week, if I remember and the weather isn’t good for being outside.  Coming up to coffee time, and maybe a bit of family tree, so an early “good night, all” from me.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
