Morning all: Happy new week.

MARGO: Welcome back!! :-))

Wendy: Thanks for keeping us up to date on Margo's Big Adventure.

dibnlib: How nice to bump into Margo et al.

Lindybird: Yes, June Gloom highly predictable; if you know of anyone planning to come to California in June, tell them not to expect beach weather, but can be pretty hot away from the coast. Re new dark countertops that don't show dirt, have been horrified to find globs of dried up sticky stuff on ours; now have to bend over and catch the light on the surface to see what needs to be scrubbed.

Diane: Only four feet from a deer? Wow. Pretty impressive, especially after looking at the pix! Maybe whistle a happy tune or put bells on your shoes next time?

Jay-Me: Vacation time sounds nice and relaxing!

Lynette: Thanks for clarifying which part of you is hurting! :-) Nice that all your furniture is finally set up; now enjoy it.

OK, off to fix dinner; back later.

  • Lots going on today. The folks that have been building the house across the street have consistently ignored the rules regarding days/hours they can work. The City says that neighborhood construction noise is okay M-F 8-5, but not on weekends or holidays. So, today, the crew showed up for the third Saturday in a row. Last Saturday they were banging around at 7:30 (after starting early the previous Friday), and we almost had a riot (well, not quite) on Monday when they started banging and smashing about at 7:10. Several neighbors (including me) went over and spoke to the owner, who's overseeing the construction; at least one neighbor waved a copy of the rules at him and that did the trick in convincing him to hold off starting work until 8 a.m.  Still, here they came again today, which prompted another series of visits by neighbors who'd been looking forward to a quiet weekend.  At 5:45 this evening, they were still hammering and power-sawing away and my OH went over and told them to close up and leave, which they did (the owner wasn't there).  It wouldn't be so bad if the owner had gone to the neighbors and asked forbearance in occasionally working outside "official" hours, but he's made no effort to follow the rules, which has upset everyone. We are two of the closest neighbors, and OH is going to City Hall Monday to file a complaint.  What a bore.  In the meantime, our fountain has arrived at the garden supply place and we spent the day digging a trench so the electrician can lay a conduit for the pump. We'll be at it again tomorrow; good thing the sun isn't showing up until 4:30 p.m.!

  • Thanks for starting, but almost gave me heart attack, when I saw 29th June, LOL!!!!!

Sorry to read of your neighbours  Doh!!!!!! But hope you will get to enjoy your Fountain...

Thanks for all the updates , photos and Videos, also all the statistics, you are all such a great bunch.

  • Morning all ... bit of a nothing weather wise today ... no sun, no rain, no wind ... makes up for yesterday which turned VERY wet indeed!

Annette- I hope you get some success with your complaints about the builders ... otherwise, why have the rules in the first place!

margobird - welcome home from your Highland Osprey Adventure! Thank you to Wendy and all the others who took care of you and showed you around ... and reported back to us :-))

OG - I hope you are feeling ok ... I notice you haven't posted for a day or two.

  • Good Morning, All.   Its not raining here, which is a change ... a lot of showers again, yesterday, some of them quite heavy.  We hope to go to the Garden Centre this morning to pick up some bits and bobs.  I'm fed up with wondering what to wear each day! - some days I have changed clothes several times.

Welcome back to dear margo - hope to hear all about it, later. So glad that some of our friends on here were able to help you to enjoy your stay at LG.

Joan,   I, too have been worrying about OG - Hope you are not too poorly, OG and that you can manage until is it Tuesday? when you get your next injection.

Annette:   What a bore, as you say, about the noise of the builders.  I think the only silver lining when they make such a racket at weekends, is that at least its going to be a day less that they will be there, in the end.

    Have a nice sunday, Everyone!

  • Looking forward to hearing about your Adventure margobird!

  • Oh!  That's lovely Joan...   expect that margo is at present having a well earned lay in!

  • Have emailed Annette re ten day time-difference, as only she can change the title of the thread.

Thanks for thinking of me - I've become a lurker for the time being - mostly reading and not posting - sooo very weary, but otherwise okay.  Will be back 100% soon.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • You lurk, then OG!   We don't mind!  thanks for letting us know.

I think Annette will be mortified when she realises she's lost a big chunk of June for us!

  • WELCOME BACK MARGOBIRD - Hope you had a wonderful time at LG...

I couldnt resist posting this photo - taken by me 10 June 2011 on the Ardnamurchan Peninsula.

I think Margobird will have a chuckle when she see this..
