Morning all: Happy new week.

MARGO: Welcome back!! :-))

Wendy: Thanks for keeping us up to date on Margo's Big Adventure.

dibnlib: How nice to bump into Margo et al.

Lindybird: Yes, June Gloom highly predictable; if you know of anyone planning to come to California in June, tell them not to expect beach weather, but can be pretty hot away from the coast. Re new dark countertops that don't show dirt, have been horrified to find globs of dried up sticky stuff on ours; now have to bend over and catch the light on the surface to see what needs to be scrubbed.

Diane: Only four feet from a deer? Wow. Pretty impressive, especially after looking at the pix! Maybe whistle a happy tune or put bells on your shoes next time?

Jay-Me: Vacation time sounds nice and relaxing!

Lynette: Thanks for clarifying which part of you is hurting! :-) Nice that all your furniture is finally set up; now enjoy it.

OK, off to fix dinner; back later.

  • Dibnlib yes our holiday is 2nd July for 2 weeks staying about 3 miles from Nethybridge.  I really cannot wait for 2 weeks peace and quiet.  I hope the weather will be kind but it will be what it will be.  We always pack far too much anyway so hopefully should be prepared.

  • Gordon Buchanan, Lily and Hope are on BBC4 at the mo.

  • Lots of heavy rain & wind last night. We survived, tho' the tree dahlias look rather horizontal. Overnight we had 15.6 mm of rain. When I set off on food shop expedition this morn it was just cold & windy. Expected max 14 C which I love.

OG & Joan & Lynette - Family history addiction is incurable. LOL

Margo - Take care of that chest infection, get plenty of rest - I'm sure Billie needs lots of pats. Glad you enjoyed your LG volunteering.

Alan - Must be all the training from bloggers that has taught you to multi-task!!!!!

    Alicat - Ouch!!!

OG - I researched one of my families where Patrick James was known as Joe, Edward Francis as Tim, William as Bobbie, Harold Joseph as Duckhouse (!) and Louisa as Sally. It was quite a challenge to sort them out. It seems that in the late 1800s/early 1900s, families had nicknames that were unlike their given names.

Hi to everyone else. I am still catching up on what I missed. Pics soon, I promise (or threaten)!

  • Happy Summer Solstice to everyone in the Northern Hemisphere!!!

Happy Winter Solstice to AQ, Wattle, and everyone in the Southern Hemisphere!!!

I'm really tired tonight, so I'll try to catch up with everyone and post more later.

Margo: Welcome back. I hope the antibiotics are working.
AQ: I hope you're feeling better. I look forward to hearing about your trip!
dibnlib: Well done on your long swim. Very impressive!
Mary: I loved that Monster Midge photo. We have awful deer flies right now. They bite fiercely and suck blood!
Alicat: Hope your thumb is okay now.
Trish 2: I hope Mia's ears improve. My dog always had ear problems, and he hated for me to treat them.
Alan: Thanks for the extra photo of the Shelducks. I love them!!!
Lindy: Great Monday smiles. Hope you're feeling well.
    Joan: Lovely poppies!

OG: Gorgeous oystercatcher. I hope your appointment goes well for you today, and you get a good, long-lasting dose of Happy Juice. Woo-hoo!

Annette: I do hope you and your neighbors are able to get the newcomers to comply with the rules. That constant noise must be so aggravating. Doesn't sound like those folks are endearing themselves to the neighborhood at all. Hope your book club meeting went well.

    Everyone have a great day!

  • Evening all: Spent most of the day (after the gym) getting house a bit cleaned up for bookclub folks - made the mistake of washing the big sliding door to the patio, which made all the other windows look filthy. Had nice get together, topped off with strawberries from the organic farm down the road, ice cream, biscotti and tea! Yum!

OG: Hope the "happy juice" does the trick.  I too will tune in to Wimbledon later in the competition.

    AQ: Enjoy the cool temps.

Margo: Hope you're resting up and getting over that sore throat.

I'm also tired tonight; will keep an eye on the nest for a bit then crash for the night. Take care all and have a lovely Tuesday.

  • TRISH    Was confused, thought you were volunteering at LG, take it that is not the case.

O G    love the oystercatcher pics, one of our favourite birds.

Watched the tennis last night, First set was nail biting but then it was a bit of a walkover. There was some very exciting tennis from both players

  • Well I promised you pictures of the pups.

  • Aaaaah!  Tiger!!!!     I need one  now......

  • Good Morning, Everyone.  A bit grey here again, and not sure how damp we are going to be.  I usually blame the cricket season, as that's when we get this English weather....

Annette:  Nice that your evening for the Book Club went well.  That tale of the sliding door had memories for me, as usually when I clean our conservatory doors because the dog has slobbered all over them, the rest looks dingy   <sigh>

OG:  Hope to hear that you have had your jab, and feel the benefit later today.  Love the Oystercatcher.

AQ:  Nice that you are cool at last!

Will try to catch some of the tennis, but like others, I usually get more gripped by it, by the second week.  See that they have already had to employ the closing roof.

Worrying news this morning, that the farmers may not be getting some of their subsidies because of the Cuts - this means that some wild meadows may be scrapped, where there have been some enormous improvements in wildlife habitat and return of species to some areas.

    Must go and do stuff.....

  • ps.  Thanks to Diane for her good wishes for the Summer Solstice!  - we hope to have a summer, eventually!
