Morning all: Happy new week.
MARGO: Welcome back!! :-))
Wendy: Thanks for keeping us up to date on Margo's Big Adventure.
dibnlib: How nice to bump into Margo et al.
Lindybird: Yes, June Gloom highly predictable; if you know of anyone planning to come to California in June, tell them not to expect beach weather, but can be pretty hot away from the coast. Re new dark countertops that don't show dirt, have been horrified to find globs of dried up sticky stuff on ours; now have to bend over and catch the light on the surface to see what needs to be scrubbed.
Diane: Only four feet from a deer? Wow. Pretty impressive, especially after looking at the pix! Maybe whistle a happy tune or put bells on your shoes next time?
Jay-Me: Vacation time sounds nice and relaxing!
Lynette: Thanks for clarifying which part of you is hurting! :-) Nice that all your furniture is finally set up; now enjoy it.
OK, off to fix dinner; back later.
Thanks Annette! Good Morning, Everyone: Lovely sunshine here and forecast to stay for at least this morning so we are off out with doggie for a walk. Here are your Monday Smiles for this week:
"How's things you lot?"
"We're just good friends"
"We can help you.... I know we look too small"
Congrats to Rory McIlroy on his wonderful win at the golf - how spectacular! And the sun is shining on the Wimbledon courts, for the start of the tournament.
Hope our margo is now rested and has not worn out her voice telling her OH all about it! - seriously, though, hope your cold is no worse margo. Take Care.
Good Morning ALL. Still drizzling here after overnight rain. We helped at Aylesford Priory Summer Fayre yesterday. It was a very successful day but mid afternoon there was some extremely heavy rain when everyone had to run for cover.
Excellent news about Rory Mcllroy.
OG, It was good to see you had looked in briefly yesterday. It must have seemed a very long time for you waiting for tomorrow but I know Eagle Eye will be looking after you.
Margo, I hope your cold has not developed into anything worse. I look forward to hearing from you when you feel able.
Annette, Sorry about your neighbour/ builder problems. A difficult problem for you, as it is always better if we can have a happy relationship with our neighbours.
Linda, Definitely an Aaaaaaah factor to your Monday Smiles.
Must start some HW.
Morning all,
Linda: Thanks for the monday smiles. The labrador looks just like my old lab Bumble we had some years ago.
Annette : I hope all the building work is finished soon and things return to normal with your neighbours.
Margo : I hope you have recovered from your Great Adventure and looking forward to hearing from you.
Watched a bit of the golf last night but gave up after the 12th as I was sure Rory would win by that time. Not a great tournament for the Americans on their home soil. Weather is bright and sunny at the moment but expected to cloud over later. Showers forecast for the rest of the week at Wimbledon with saturday forecast to be a good day at the moment. Not a lot planned for today so probably watch some of the tennis later.
Washing day, rain promised so I hung it all in garage, none of it dried and it didn't rain til 5 pm <sigh> Rest of day spent replying to emails that came while away. There weren't many but I muddled all day on it. Now must batten down the hatches. Weather man predicts severe storms & gales & the end of the world from his words. Do I believe him? Maybe. Of course the power will fail before Wimbledom comes on at 11 pm. If I am still awake LOL.
Up early to wait for oven door repair man to return with the part. We were also late to bed last night – this family history is getting too interesting – two of my four great grandmothers had the same surname, so searching for a link! We’ve each discovered why there were things we weren’t told as children!
Not trying to look back at last week so starting some replies to yesterday’s few posts and then today.
Annette – I hope you get satisfaction from City Hall re the building opposite. Also hope that you get your fountain fitted up today.
Joan – our whole weekend stayed wet – but today is dry and very sunny – so far. Bird feeders constantly occupied and lots of young feeding themselves now, as well as some still relying on parents.
Lindy – I think a lot of our regulars must have been out and about with Husbands and Fathers yesterday. OH had a card from Dau#1 and a phonecall (an extra one!) from Son – may get a belated card form Dau#2 – that is the usual way of things! The two of us enjoyed our Jazz/Swing lunch at Casa Mia. Thanks for Monday Smiles – love the pushing puppies!
Heather (and Others!) – sounds like a great impromptu “Chat Meet” at the garden centre on Saturday!
Dibnlib – Pleased you enjoyed your more rural bike ride yesterday after the scare on the A96 – that bit of road near the retail park isn’t very pleasant, even as a passenger in the car! I sometimes sit down for 10 minutes of Wimbledon but 125 years – that’s a marathon!!!!
Patricia – sorry your dogs didn’t win anything for you yesterday. I was sorry to read about your shingles last week – I hope the super-meds are working. Well-done to Rory McIlroy!!!
Lynette – coping better with the tiredness so far today, probably because I have a secondary reason for it and I know it’s my fault for staying up late last night! Sorry to read of your foot and back injuries last week, and I hope you are enjoying all your renovations and new purchases.
Brenda – I seem to remember bad weather fro the Priory Summer Fayre last year too – maybe they should change the date! Eagle Eye is currently ironing – flat things such as tablecloths and napkins – I shall do the shirts.
Margo – when you do look in, sorry about the cold/throat which we heard about from your “Team” in the north – do take care of yourself.
AQ –I thought only the British weather was so fickle! Stay safe during the expected storms.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Good morning all and here I am back again but not feeling at all well. Have just been to doctor to get some antibiotics as I have a chest infection. Just a short post to thank all for their thoughts while I was away. I will be posting a separate thread about my volunteering at LG. At the moment I am just rying to catch up with everything. Logged in to find the automated email system was operating again and I had nearly 2,000 emails in my in box. Have deleted lots but still a lot to go. It was wonderful to meet up with WendyB, rosiemac, HeatherB and dibnlib and her OH. Billie was spoiled rotten by OH while I was away but I was so pleased that she rushed to greet me on my return. OH did a grand job looking after my birds. He was getting up at 5.00 everyday to do all this and to give him time to play with Billie before he left for work. He had been full of ideas of what jobs he was going to do while I was away but needless to say he just did not have the time. I was disappointed as I felt to ill to go and see Micheal Ball last evening but OH went and said it was a very good show. Will be back to normal I hope very soon but am probably going to go back to bed at spome point and try and sleep as I did not sleep very well due to all the coughing. Rest assured I am so pleased I was able to fulfil my dream but would say it was hard work with all the shifts. Will tell you more when I publish my diary for the week.
Margobird
Lindybird What super photos! Are the white pups Samoyeds? Love the littleuns trying to help tthe baby.
Margobird Sorry you have ended up with a chest infection. Spoil yourself and get plenty of rest. Glad it didn't spoil your enjoyment of LG. Take care.
Good morning everyone. Not a bad day here ... reasonably warm and sunny intervals, but showers for this afternoon they tell us!
Great news about Rory McIlroy!
margobird - glad you enjoyed your osprey experience, but sorry you have a chest infection. I'm looking forward to your diary reports, when you feel better. Shame you had to miss the Michael Ball concert ... I usually go to see him with a friend, when he is up here ... OH doesn't like him! Good to hear that Billie gave you a great welcome home :-) Take care of yourself, and I hope you feel better soon.
OG - thanks for letting us know yesterday that you were ok ... we were worried!! Glad you were well enough to enjoy your lunch yesterday, and I hope the injection will 'put you to rights' as my dad always said. I agree about the Family History research getting addictive ... I was like that last year. I also discovered great grandmothers with the same surname, but haven't got to the bottom of it yet ... maybe I never will!!
Linda - great Monday Smiles ... love the white dogs one!
I'm just back from a quick trip to Boundary Mill Stores at Shiremoor, and on the way I passed a field of poppies. OH and I were just saying the other day that we rarely see them nowadays. I just had the little camera from the car, but I thought I'd post this pic.
Thanks to all for chat.
Take care.
Joan - avid bird and nature watcher in Northumberland!
