  • AQ: Some lovely pix there of the Great Ocean Road there.

Just watched 60 Minutes with a preview of John Downer's "Spy on the Ice,"  which (Diane/Gary) will show on Animal Planet channel at various times over the next two weeks.  Downer's crew came up with robot-like cams that filmed various creatures - in this case Polar Bears - very, very close up as the bears investigated the cams.

Spoke to granddaughter this evening; she's due to have the baby any day now, but managed to complete a two-weekend seminar to re-qualify for her national Emergency Medical Tech licence. She took the final test today and passed with 95 out of a100 (second highest score in the class). Amazing, since she's been very tired the last few weeks and hasn't worked in the field since November, but it's a testament to her determination and ability to focus.  Last week, she was also invited to apply for a position as a lactation counselor after participating in a pre-natal breast-feeding program. She'll follow that up since it's a 9-5 job close to her home. No details about salary or benefits on that one, so we'll see.  In the meantime, my daughter has rented a small studio very near g-daughter and her OH where she has her own space but is still just minutes away.  G-daughter's OH still something of a question mark in her future, but time will tell....

    Have a nice Monday all!

  • AQ I'm sure everyone's thought of this but Jasper hadn't had any new flea drops on his neck lately had he?  I'm sure I've heard about an animal having a reaction to them.

Lovely sunny morning here but frosty. Nice mixture of little birds feeding happily.

  • Wendyb I do hope you'll be ok up there without your snow tyres. The Cairngorm mountain forecast is giving snow to low levels on Wednesday.  Take care.

  • Morning all,

OG : The Decorah cam is excellent this year. I dont remember it being so good last year. It rivals the Hampton cam for close ups.

Lynette : Thanks for all your latest pics.

AQ : Thanks for the pic of Jasper.

Everyone else thanks for the chat etc.

Sunny from the start this morning. I can only remember 1 other day this year when it was like this. Still cold though but it does not seem so bad when the sun is shining.

4 eggs now for Aria & Vento:

  • AAAGGHH my dishwasher is on the blink.  Water is coming in but the rotor arm that sprays it is not moving round.  I can feel another bill coming on.  We've just had major expense with the car and the annual water bill came the other day.  It is so bad that I've registered to have a water meter fitted.  What gets me is that other areas of our town, even friends with bigger houses and no meter have lower bills than us.  Family who live down south have lower bills too and everythings supposed to be more expensive down there. Phew, rant over, thank you!!

  • Good morning Alan  and so pleased you  have at last got some sun and even though chilly it certainly makes you feel better.  Another frost overnight here which has gone but now bit bird baths frozen up again. Thanks for the news of fourth egg for Aria & Vento and that capture is good, showing all tthe detail of her feathers and her lovely head.

You are so right about the Decorah eagle cam it is on a par with Hampton and of course we have sound which Hampton doesn't.

  • For those who pop into the Palemale site he has a new partner called Paula now ater Lola disappeared before last Chirstmas.  They have been adding to the nest so maybe there will be a happy event there this year.

  • Good Morning ALL. Very picturesque view as I drew the curtains this morning. Everywhere is frosty white with a bright sun reflecting on the garden, but so cold when I ventured outside.

Enjoyed meeting our son & his wife and daughter and her boyfriend for lunch yesterday, which lasted for nearly 5 hours. Everyone very talkative and amusing. Even daughter's boyfriend has finally relaxed and joined in the fun. There is a chance that DiL will be transferred to Geneva so they will be going to have a look next week, but as they don't want to be apart, our son, who is a clinical Psychologist needs to see what would be available for him.

Neighbour has just arrived and looks settled so I will return later.

  • Annette  congratulations to your g-daughter  but hope things will go well for her on the birth of her baby.  Nice that your daughter is fairly close by and hope question mark over g-daughter's OH will turn out OK for her in the end.  Must be worrying for you all.

  • Good morning ALICAT so pleased to hear you have booked a holiday in Scotland, you both need one I am sure.  See you are going to Loch Garten and wondered whether it would be when I am up there.
