Weekly Chat, Sunday March 6, 2011

Welcome to another week. Do check back lest you miss the pics of many and varied birds plus a certain Toffee. And lots of news of course. Diane had another thunderstorm.

Diane - Uncontrollable children in olden days. Children were sent out to "service" as young as 10. Of course they ran away, thus breaking "Masters & Servants Act". Probably broke other laws as humans do. There were probationary school from which they also ran away. I found some twigs on my family tree who were regularly in trouble with the law - for playing the wicked game of two-up in pubs! Their 13 year old brother went one better (ahem), he broke into a school.

Patriciat - So sorry your OH has fallen again. Don’t worry about moaning to us. We do understand. I’m sending blue skies and healing thoughts to your house.

Our spring bulbs are appearing - confused by the unseasonal rain a few weeks ago. Poor things, there’s another possible 3 weeks of hot weather (34C so far today) and winter rains are not usual until May.

Whoo hoo. Less than 3 weeks to OR Day (Osprey Return day). I wonder what soap opera saga they have for us this year!

  • Good morning Lynette and thanks for all the captures.  Always nice to see what I have missed.  There was a lot of action in Lily's den yesterday, some of this I managed to see.  Faith and Jason both have their eyes open now and seeing a lot more of them now they are moving around.  Glad you enjoyed your chill out afternoon.  My was the same especially as OH was watching football and he likes my company.

Still have to see results show from Dancing on Ice which I will watch with my lunch but from what you say a sensible outcome.  It seemed wrong to me that Chloe finished way down after having got the best score.

  • aquilareen thanks for the pic of Jasper, such a lovely cat.  Poor little thing perhaps he is allergic to something outside.

The news on New Zealand is not mentioned now so we are unaware of what is going on, although I have been looking on the internet for updates.  Another strong tremor for them and people must feel so frightened by the ongoing tremors and I believe they have had a lot of rain too.

  • Good morning trish 2 and hope your SH took the steak left for her.  You certainly are seeing a lot of ladybirds, so far I have just seen one.  Well done to your OH for having the best half plot last year.  Was watching a programme the other night where people who have allotments have been told that the plots will be going up a lot in price this year.  Such a shame for people on a limited income who grow their own because it is cheaper to do so.   Lucky you seeing a red kite too, as far as I know none have ever been spotted down my way,.

  • Good morning Terry sounds like a nice bike ride in good weather.  Yes I think Spring is around the corner at long last, although we have had frosts for the last five nights which soon goes and then beautiful sunny days.  You are right about the sparrows being busy.  I notice that the bird food is not going so quickly now as they seem to doing other things for part of the day, like collecting nesting material and getting started on nests.  What a lovely time of the year it is.

Must have been very stressful for you in waiting for the diagnosis of gallstones.  My sister has recently has an operation for a brain tumour which took 2 months to diagnose. Her OH kept taking her to the doctor saying something was very wrong and asking that she be send for a brain scan.  Eventually she got her brain scan which confirmed she had a brain tumour and had to be operated on very quickly.  She has just finished a heavy course of radiation treatment and is having another scan later this month.  Wishing you lots of good health now and the future.
