Asha & Brodie

The partnership has matured this season, with Asha continuing her good female role (and she loves nest-building) and Brodie being more reliable, both fishing and incubating.

The pair have fought their way thru all kinds of nasty weather - snow, wind and rain - and intruders, including the dreaded KL5 Klive, have been a nuisance but not dangerous...

so far.

EDIT

********

Sadly, the month of May heralded irresistible aggression from BlueKL5 "Klive", who had ruined the end of last season for the 2 juvies.

Within the first 2 days Klive had driven Brodie from the area (tho Brodie did return a couple of times to dive-bomb Klive, to no effect) and destroyed the eggs.  He commenced to woo Asha clumsily, selfishly and inappropriately, as can be seen from the following pages.

IMAGICAT

  • We have had one sighting this evening, noted by Pia on Chat.

17.55 and osprey flew in and landed on a branch just visible on the right hand side. It appeared to be tucking into a fish

18.13 it took flight, and landed on the nest confirming it was Klive. He had already finished his fish and cleaned his beak on the stick in the nest. He pottered and stood, staring at the surrounding land.

18.16 Klive took flight, flying to the left and then behind the nest.

Good to see him today, albeit briefly.

  • Very funny footage—great tit was cleaning up the lens just as Klive has cleaned up the nest at the end of the season!

    27 August

    Nestcam - Pre 10:00 I counted 5 Chaffies, all male-looking.

During the morning the wind was vicious (FF-ing exaggerates it) and I saw white flashes in the distant tree where Klive brings his fish - but it turned out to be a branch of that dead tree that doesn't usually come into view.

PTZ - on the nestcam perch a Blue Tit and some Great Tits fluttered 'n pecked - I tried to crop (no cam zoom Disappointed )  but it was too blurry for close-up vid or snaps.

No-one of interest to LG Osprey watchers was seen by me all day up to nightcam.
