Asha & Brodie
The partnership has matured this season, with Asha continuing her good female role (and she loves nest-building) and Brodie being more reliable, both fishing and incubating.
The pair have fought their way thru all kinds of nasty weather - snow, wind and rain - and intruders, including the dreaded KL5 Klive, have been a nuisance but not dangerous...
so far.

EDIT
********
Sadly, the month of May heralded irresistible aggression from BlueKL5 "Klive", who had ruined the end of last season for the 2 juvies.
Within the first 2 days Klive had driven Brodie from the area (tho Brodie did return a couple of times to dive-bomb Klive, to no effect) and destroyed the eggs. He commenced to woo Asha clumsily, selfishly and inappropriately, as can be seen from the following pages.
IMAGICAT
She must have heard me.
04:10 I believe female to nest
07:28 mt nest syndrome… but… very unusual sighting of cuckoo perched and calling from perch above nest cam - see zoom cam!
Best view probably at 7:34
super view of both cuckoos. Thanks EJFan
Can’t wait to see the master’s video! Hint hint busy Scylla!

Cor blimey, it's taken ages, I managed to copy the sound onto the PTZ view. So I don't want any complaints - I can't crop it any closer, it's too grainy.
And it's definitely Asha preening unconcernedly over by the old nest - she later flew off and Klive overlapped her when he flew to the nest.
Wow wow wow my dear friend! Thank you so much! Bless you! 5 stars ️️️️️
May 23, 2024 - Day complete
Fish: 9:18:44 (KL5)
Mating: 4:46 F, 13:37 F, 18:15 F, 19:28 S, 20:26 F. All with KL5.
The (S)uccess or (F)ailure indication is purely my untrained observation.
1 S, 4 F
9:18:44 KL5 flies to the dead tree by the tower with a fish. He stays there the entire time chomping down on that fish until it finishes it at 13:17.
13:17 he flies to the nest. 4 hours he was eating that fish!!!! Asha looks down at his empty talons and then lays into him. Right in his ear. He scrams at 13:21
No fish for the female today and I suspect she is away fishing for herself. A retrograde day. I fear that if this continues she will spend more and more time away from the nest prospecting other nes in the area where there is a solitary male who is prepared to feed her for the remainder of the season.
