It was a very welcomed surprise to see NC0 arrive back from her wintering grounds on the 8th March, her earliest return to date! NC0 kept herself occupied while alone - catching some impressive-sized fish to eat as well as preparing the nest in readiness for future eggs. To note, her severely split blue darvic ring (as seen last season) is missing and she now only wears a BTO ring on her right leg.
It was a nail-biting time for us waiting to see if dear Laddie would make an appearance too and, little did we know, that it would be a further 19 days before he made his ‘grand entrance’ on the 27th, being ‘escorted’ to the nest by a flock of very vocal gulls!
Having settled into their usual routines on the nest and around the reserve, we now look forward to watching this season’s events unfold.

Well my excuse is that my friend is describing his dinner plans on speaker and expecting me to advise, and I'm trying to do a Kielder vid and have lost my way.
We posted at the same time, Scylla!
Your friend isn't having fish is he? lol
A fair few outages today. Cam went offline at 18:32
Laddie was still on incubation duty. A pic I took just prior to the cam going down
No new YT URL as yet
Thx for all the pics and updates
You're very welcome, Ailie!

Laddie dozing in the early evening sun, 19:30
NC0 arrived back to the perch at 19:53 with the remainder of the fish in her left talons
She stayed on there until 19:57 when she flew off with her fish to the birch area marked
NC0 returned with the remainder of the fish at 20:09, having flown from the birch area, low over the Loch behind the nest, to make her approach to the nest
Laddie carefully reversed out from the nest cup and flapped his wings
He flew off
NC0 released the fish from her talons...
...then either inadvertently or intentionally, the fish was slipped into the nest cup as she was approaching it
NC0 settled to incubate
20:47 NC0 still incubating, Laddie has not been back to the nest. I know there was a thin stick in this position when Laddie was on incubation duty, but I'm wondering if the end of the fish is here now?
