Aran and his new mate, Elen, both returned last season on 03 April. After a will-they/won't-they start, Elen laid her first egg on 24 April and the second 3 days later. Two male chicks, 0H1 and 0H2, fledged on 20 and 23 July and were last seen on 05 and 04 September, respectively.

Elen was last seen on 24 August, Aran on 08 September.
A happy ending to a season that had started out so sadly.
May our 2024 season turn out so well.

Good Evening All and thank you for all the great updates.

Aran likes to attack her on the side fence:
LAM said:she looks like she doesn't need one by the size of her!
She looks in beautiful condition, too - but this isn't the shot to demonstrate that, it's just one that's a bit different:
After settling on her perch for the night, someone or something disturbed her and off she flew, not to return till morning.

She arrived on the perch at 05:35, and soon their normal routine resumed:
I meant to mentioned that a lot of the matings I've passed by have looked very good!
Very quick check-thru.
She got supper, this was the least blurred view on Cam2 and I'm not doing Cam1:
Elen took it to the perch and stayed there thru wind and rain after she'd finished it:
So far she's had a relatively peaceful night, punctuated by preenings and alert starings.

A good start:
A good continuation:
View from Cam1 but it's not very nice of Elen:
Aran with small fish, which he didn't share:
He also brought in a thick bent log but I've lost track if that was before or after the above:
A medium fish for Elen:
Only a very sketchy run-thru.
Elen got at least one fish:
And there was at least one successful mating
Elen had an undisturbed night on the perch.

Aran took Elen by surprise when he flew in for his mating date, cos he woke her up - so he aborted at the last second and flew down onto the nest - made up for it later tho.
Thank you for the updates Scylla much appreciated!

They didn't seem as communicative with each other today ??? But, me being under pressure, if anyone's interested in knowing the FAX, they'd better check with on-the-ballers.
Aran took this flounder away and brought her back a rather mean piece of it that I couldn't get a decent shot of:
And this was all she got for supper:
I didn't see nearly as much mating as usual but this one was good:
Someone down there waiting to cause mischief?
OK up to midnight.
18 April
For a change this morning, Aran flew to the perch and had a nap beside Elen:
Soon after they got going there was a good mating on the nest:
