Well, it's now 2024 and hopefully another successful year for the Poole Harbour Ospreys.
The last couple of years have seen the successful establishment of a nest and raising of young.
Translocated females From the harbour have set up successful nests in Wales also raising young.
Hopefully this year may see the establishment of a second nest in the Harbour area.

Here was the family last year
I hope Alison Copland won't mind but here is a link to a video she has made of the 2023 season. It is a must watch for followers of Ospreys, especially the Poole harbour family

If only its source could be found and put out of bounds, somehow - there's got to be a reason why this nest has such easy access to it (as at Alyth, too).

Scylla, i have posted about it in a few places, but not sure if I have done on here.
One of the big problems is the nest location. It is within a very short distance of several Quarries and also land fill / rubbish tips. This means there is an endless supply of plastic sacks about.
Being commercial landfill means it is impossible to put out of bounds to birds

I think as the chicks get older it becomes easier. I’ve seen a few nests with the couple doing dual feeding and if there are going to be 4 chicks here, it’ll probably be needed!
Thanks for the info, I will post it on the other forum.
