Egg No. 3 laid 26 April - Hatched 1 June (37 days) Sadly, this little chick died on 3rd June. It coincided with LJ2 having a leg injury and unable to fish at the time. I don’t know if this was the sole reason, part of the reason or something else. RIP little one

18.26 LM6 brought in a whole fish. She certainly catches big ones!
Guess who was there to take it?? Yes, of course, Mari Watched by Dilys.
Mari moved around the nest with it until she found a comfortable place to eat.

18.47 LM6 joined the girls
19.12. LM6 waited until Mari moved away from the fish before she approached it.
19.13. She then flew off with it.
19.19. Dilys tidied up scraps on the nest
19.25. She then decided to go for another wee flight to the trees ahead again.
19.26. Mari lifted her wings as if she thought about following Dilys but LM6 then arrived back on the nest with the fish.
19.30. Having eaten already, Mari wasn’t hungry so LM6 ate by herself.
19.40. Dilys returned from her wee trip
19.40. LM6 left then Dilys went over to the fish to have a feed.
The rain is on again20.03 Dilys walks away from what’s left of the fish.

21.26 What a night, not very pleasant at all. LM6 is with the youngsters on the nest.

Monday 24 July
Good morning LM6 stayed with the youngsters all night. It was a wet one. (LM6 front right) 00.39
She moved closer to her girls 02.01
and tried to cover them 03.07
LM6 was up first and left at 03.55
The chicks did some stretching and wing flapping 03.56
LJ2 is still behind on the perch
The girls had a good preen before thinking about setting off. 05.09
05.11 Mari moved to the nest edge followed by Dilys
05.12 They stood for a short while then Dilys was off first.
A few wing beats and couple of chips and away she goes
Mari watched as Dilys flew from right to left past the trees, then turning over the lake to return past the trees again.
It took Mari a wee while of watching, listening to Dilys calling, waiting around then nest then plucking up the courage to go. 05.29
05.4005.51 Dilys had just returned to sit on the treetop. Mari was about ready to go.
One last look
05.52 And off she goes on her second flight off the nest.
The adults were on the preening perch as Dilys and Mari left the nest.
LJ2 turning to watch proceedings 05.12
Dilys does a flypastLJ2 had just left the perch when Mari did her flypast the perch with mum looking on. 05.53
06.05 LJ2 flies onto the nest, followed by a juvenile to the perch.
LJ2 does some stick tidying. 06.0606.08 LJ2 leaves to go to the cam pole. The juvenile stays for a while preening. 06.48
06.54 The other juvenile lands in the treetops beyond the nest.
The juvenile on the perch leaves and lands on the nest a minute later, it’s Dilys. She’s immediately followed by LJ2.

and Mari flies in landing with a gentle hover behind Dilys. 07.01
Mari doesn’t stay long and is soon away again. It’s good to see the adults keeping a close eye on their fledglings.
There have been lots of comings and goings on the nest as the day has gone on.
07.15 LM6 drops off some soft moss

She is followed onto the nest by LJ2
09.52 Mari then flies from the tree she was sitting on.

10.00 Mari starts to eat the fish.
