EDITEDI thought we should have a new thread to record the development of the two chicks who hatched successfully at Clywedog this year. UPDATE. One of the chicks was killed in an attempted goshawk predation on 18 July 2023.
The introduction to the nest and happenings between March and June 2023 on this Thread©
5F Seren, the female who has been here since 2020, returned from migration on 25 March 2023. The unringed Dylan, the male since 2016, returmed two days later. Eggs were laid on 13 April, 16 April and 19 April. The first egg hatched on 20 May, and the second egg 2 days after that. The third egg has not hatched and will not do so now.
A highlight was the visit on 12 May from 496, the only chick which fledged from this nest in 2021.
Carnyx Wild provide video streams; the current stream is available here. The link to the feed changes every 12 hours. There should be 2 cameras, but one has not been streamed so far this season due to condensation in the lens; it is hoped this may be changed when the chicks are ringed.
Other links to the Facebook page and John Williams blog are on the introduction to the first thread above.
Grateful thanks to those who are gifted enough to record images and videos from this lovely, mainly tranquil, scene.
UPDATE This thread will be used to record updates on this nest and the Llyn Clywedog area before the start of the 2024 season.

The picture is "rain-damaged" and buffering, but it looks as tho Seren is mantling vs an unseen intruder and there may be 2 youngsters kinda flat on the nest, but it's very difficult to make out (for me!).
EDIT
They were all 3 on the nest, due to a recent fish delivery.
Inching between rainblobs and buffers...

FISH !!! !!! !!!
Only Seren came for it but soon a juvie flew in - it was impossible to get a better shot:
05:44 the juvie flew off, Seren waited and was joined by both @ 06:01 and 06:02, seconds later Seren flew and then the juves. Empty nest now.
The juvie had flown in in anticipation, well done!
I promise this was a fish
You may question my judgement when the frame detracts from the main feature of the snap... but I couldn't resist:
Seren came to assist but what with blobs and buffers I don't know what happened hereafter:
The weather has cleared but the buffering cotinues.
Seren and a juvie were waiting for it and Seren is currently serving the latter:

20:50 - Fine fish per Dylan, one juvie already here to claim it:
The waiting juvie gave up quite soon and left:

Oh no..... such devastating news
Unknown said:A Goshawk attacked the nest, about 1629, killing 8B1
Having been elsewhere at the crucial moment, I had put a marker there to check why Seren was looking down at the ground for so long - I went back to check after I'd finished the LG Goshawk video, of all things !!! (Then MovieMaker crashed mid-project, so it's been a long job.)
RIP 8B1
This persistent blob is making life difficult for us watchers - but here there were all 3 on the nest, and Seren is about to fly off with the fish again, the other 2 heads having shown no interest:
