NC0 surprised us all when she arrived back at Lowes first, with Laddie making his initial landing exactly 6 hours later. She laid her three beautiful eggs after almost near-perfect, precise intervals of 72 hours between each one. Both Laddie and NC0 have regularly exchanged incubation duties and have been very attentive to protect their eggs, and nest, from multiple intrusions during April. The hatching window will open around the 10th May, all being well.

  • NC0 went back to the fish at 17:02

The cam eventually zoomed in - #2 was up for some more!

Movements from NC0 suggested #1 was being fed too. #2 eating this piece

    NC0 swallowed the fish tail

At 17:12, NC0 made a contact call and headed off for a comfort break

    NC0 returned with a stick

After some other nest adjustments, she settled to brood at 17:20

  • Some zoomed in pics of the chicks at 17:56 - NC0 had gone on a comfort break

Another break for NC0 and another zoom on the chicks at 19:51 - #1 (behind) getting up to alter its position

The cam remained zoomed (not as close though) until 20:31. Some random pics

    #1 preening

    NC0 came back

    Aww...

  • Another fish delivery from Laddie at 21:01

Laddie rubbed his left eye several times

    And again

It looked ok but he did rub his eye a couple more times before leaving

Both chicks up for another feed

  • The feed...

    #1

    Then #2

This went to #2, #1 took it from its beak

#1 swallowed this piece as #2 went to take it

21:16 #2 was still accepting more fish

NC0 discarded the fish on the front edge of the nest at 21:18

She moved a thin stick from the nest cup

    Brooding

  • NC0 got back up at 21:29 and headed to the fish

#1 was up to receive some more

    #2 joined in

    #1 scuttled round

NC0 discarded the remainder of the fish

Tucking in and brooding her growing chicks at 21:34

  • 22:04 Laddie arrived at the nest. NC0 made some short calls, warning him off from taking the fish? (it was still where she had left it and hidden under her tail)

    He left at 22:06

Laddie landed in the area marked

NC0 went for a comfort break at 22:26

On her return, she headed to the fish and ate for herself

NC0 offered to #2 but the piece was declined

    She finished off the fish

NC0 settled to brood at 22:36

  • Morning All,

Laddie delivered a headless fish at 6:54

    Laddie left the nest

    #1

Two satisfied chicks when NC0 discarded the fish on the nest at 7:07

NC0 was back to the fish at 7:46

The feed is still going on at present, 8:14

  • At 8:23, NC0 flicked a small remainder of the fish from her talons, it landed somewhere in the area marked

Laddie to the nest at 8:52, had he spied the fish?

NC0 went off on a comfort break

    Laddie on guard duty

He found the tail end of the fish

He proceeded to eat his 2nd breakfish meal

Laddie was still tucking in when NC0 returned shortly after

He had finished off the fish

He left the nest at 9:07, taking a clump of dried grass with him which was caught in his talons

At present, 9:19, NC0 is still preening; the chicks are resting

I'm off out for the day, BFN

  • Catch up...

10:00 Laddie spent 5 minutes on the nest with NC0 and the chicks. He did chip/alarm call a good number of times initially - no threat seen. NC0 remained calm, no calls from her

His flank injury appears to be all healed up

10:57 Cam zoomed in on the chicks after NC0 had gone on a comfort break - #2 behind #1

NC0 arrived back with a stick

When placing it onto the right side, it dragged slightly over #2's back

She pecked off any debris to make sure #2's back was clean

    NC0 watching the chicks' preen

There was a sudden gust of wind that blew a piece of bark over #1

She was quick to approach the offending piece of bark to remove it

It fell out of her beak and it landed, partially covering #1 again

    Success on her second attempt

    No harm done!

The cam remained zoomed in for 1 hour and 50 minutes in total

That covers this morning's and the very early part of this afternoon's notable events that I could find
