NC0 surprised us all when she arrived back at Lowes first, with Laddie making his initial landing exactly 6 hours later. She laid her three beautiful eggs after almost near-perfect, precise intervals of 72 hours between each one. Both Laddie and NC0 have regularly exchanged incubation duties and have been very attentive to protect their eggs, and nest, from multiple intrusions during April. The hatching window will open around the 10th May, all being well.

WendyBartter said:So difficult to watch this behaviour when one keeps the other cowed down and not getting same share of fish!
It really is, Wendy! I don't think #2 would have had a chance to eat even if the fish had been larger - #1 was on a mission to not let it feed.
13:42 Intruder over the nest, not once but twice
Second time
It flew up high heading left (out of cam view)
The intruder did attempt to dive bomb a couple of times (NC0 reacted) but it was not seen on cam

Backtracking again (sorry!)
Cam zoomed in at 13:35
A close up of egg 1
#2 did a PS
#1 woke up as #2 changed its position
Cam panned back out after this pic
NC0 went on a comfort break at 16:30, she landed on the birch
Cam zoomed over there - NC0 flew off, low to the right
#1 was not being well behaved at all when the cam panned back to the nest, in fact, it's been like that for most of the day so far!
NC0 returned
Fish at 16:45 and it's a WHOPPER!
I'll cover the feed in a separate post.

The cam zoomed in. NC0 offering a piece of fish to #1
#1 started on #2 again
#1 was fed many pieces, #2 attempted to join in but wasn't allowed to
16:54 #2 turned, facing the cam - it still hadn't received any fish
Then it faced left, away from NC0
#2 turned back and in it's attempt,to get some fish, after standing tall, #1 (whose crop was filling up) showed more aggression
#2 down again after daring to move
FINALLY, at 17:13, #2 received some fish!
There was some more bullying from #1 BUT this is the scene at present (17:28). #2 enjoying a private feeding! It began at 17:21
Crop filling up nicely!
17:34
#2 still accepting more at 17:38
