NC0 surprised us all when she arrived back at Lowes first, with Laddie making his initial landing exactly 6 hours later. She laid her three beautiful eggs after almost near-perfect, precise intervals of 72 hours between each one. Both Laddie and NC0 have regularly exchanged incubation duties and have been very attentive to protect their eggs, and nest, from multiple intrusions during April. The hatching window will open around the 10th May, all being well.

LotL cam op zoomed in for a nice closeup.
Fish, and still flapping so no doubt caught by Laddie. It's a whole Pike or looks like it on a small phone screen

More good news to wake up to this morning, Chick Number 2 hatched at 4:19 am and has quickly joined its sibling in sitting upright in the morning sunshine.
The eagle eyed among you will have noticed that this hatch is actually from the third egg laid - the palest of the trio.
This means a number of things, either Egg 2 is still hatching or, more likely, what looked to be an egg pip yesterday was a bit of nest material or a fish scale. This would suggest that it is Egg 1 that has not yet hatched and is therefore possibly not viable.
We will just have to wait and see! Meanwhile, welcome Chick No. 2!

ailie said:I don’t get this non intervention anyway .. we have intervened by building many nests, building pine Martin protection.. open fish farm areas to feed .. so what If Laddie did get a help make him stronger to fish for his family
Very good points, AILIE - and I do hope I don't sound patronising cos... far from it!
billy r said:LOL have put a comment on Facebook this morning - LM12 has been fishing on Lowes this morning - no catch as yet! On average 1 in 4 attempts are successful and its a windy one!
We don't get enough beyond-the-cam reports - thank you BILLY !!!
Following delays & distractions (but on the plus side I have guidance from posters here), here is my video covering 02:00 to the late lunchtime FISH!
Not a whopper but a decent size - well done Laddie
It always worries me when they get bits stuck in their beak - but they survive

Laddie's delivery and the subsequent feed from NC0 - it lasted for 12 minutes, both the little ones were fed well
Laddie left the nest as NC0 fed #1 a piece of fish
#2's first taste of fish
Cam zoomed in
NC0 took the fish tail in her beak but it fell into the nest cup
On her retrieval, #1 was, for a split second, picked up with it
No harm done
NC0 swallowed the fish tail
She settled down to brood/incubate
Edit: Lol Scylla, I must have been in RF when you posted your vid and captures!
