Bart molenaar said: incubation didn’t start until the 2nd egg, for days later.. so all in all, maybe 2nd half of next week should be possible…
I saw an expert say that the incubation period for Northern Goshawk is 28-38 days
Last night the Tawny was back - with a to-and-fro double attack!
There were two calls off-cam after the hits, the first one much louder/closer and different in tone than the second, I suppose they must have been from the owl but I'm not familiar with the variety of Tawny Owl vocals.
A Chaffie sang its lovely little song to the Goshawk, who took no notice:
IMAGICAT
BIG PIP visible. Hatching is ongoing!! Whohoo!!
The egg just broke at 16.46
Oh my.. almost missed it...But mum got up.. and suddenly there are 2 little white fluffies
Heehee, I will leave it so late to go thru the day, what do I expect? - never mind, here's the progress from no pips to one pip to 2 goshawklets. We could have another by tomorrow, I'm sure there were at least 3 eggs.
And then there were 3!!
7.52 this morning.. didn't see it at the feed from 5am..
And 4!! Amazing stuff!! This will be interesting
Oops... mum flies off (maybe seeing a prey) and one of the chicks takes a tumble!!Good thing the nest bowl is as deep as it is!!
