What a coincidence you should say that, WENDY! I've been "dubious" about the Goshawks ever since the killing of #4, then Kielder sickened me and brought back memories of other attacks on Osprey. Chris Packham or no Chris Packham, I just can't get past their extreme viciousness, minus any sign of "personality" that I percieve in other birds.
Just now when I thought the LG streams had recovered, I thought "Shall I bother with the Goshawks - after all, they're on the verge of fledging now, and do I care enough to allocate resources?".
This is sacrilege, I know, and I'm upset about my own attitude.

I'm with you on that one Scylla but it's no good forcing ourselves to follow something we're unhappy with!

A quickie showing the start of branching and some grown-up sleeping:

I lost him before that - but my eyesight is very poor - or maybe they could see him outside of the cam's range but still in the tree:
The fledger hasn't spent the night with his sibs on the nest.
15 July
All day there were 3, 2 or 1 on the nest - because the fledger returned for quite long periods, and one of the others branched out of sight, but not for long.
16 July
The remaining two branching at the same time:
Again, the fledger paid several visits to the nest but there have been only 2 overnight.
Finally an empty nest, then an empty tree - not for long, I dare say, but it's a good place to end coverage (but I won't be able to resist checking for the Pine Marten overnight).
