Things continued to go well at the beginning of June and on the 4th, we celebrated a record nine fish delivery day from Laddie. During the following week, the number of fish brought to the nest took a sudden decline and with this, we witnessed chick #3 befalling to sibling aggression - first from chick #1 and then chick #2. Very sadly, this then led to the dear Osplet being blocked from getting close to NC0 for feeding. Devastatingly, after a very early fish delivery on the morning of the 15th June, the middle chick subjected the youngest to a severe attack from which, in its weakened state, it could not get up from. The little one passed away on the nest a few hours later at the age of 23 days old.
Soar high and free, brave #3 - you will always be remembered...
Subsequent to the passing of the youngest chick, fish deliveries from Laddie began to increase with him even outdoing his previous record by bringing an amazing ten to the nest on a single day. NC0 made her first dive from the split birch (since the chicks had hatched) on the 24th June and brought her catch back to the nest, much to the surprise of the chicks! The youngsters have continued to grow at an amazing rate and, on the evening of the 27th June - at the ages of 39 and 37 days old respectively - they were ringed. Their genders could not be determined. A milestone for the chicks was observed on the evening of the 29th June when both self-fed and the following day, LR0 showed its strength of character to successfully claim two fish!Hopefully, LP8 and LR0 will continue to do well and that we will witness their successful fledges this month.

LR0 finished off the first fish.
Laddie delivered a second fish at 7:20ish. NC0 was alone on the nest to receive it
LP8 came to the nest and shared it with NC0
10:26 A huge headless fish from Laddie! NC0 and LR0 were on the nest, fish was claimed by LR0
10:41 This fish should feed LP8 as well as NC0. LR0 still tucking in
LP8 took the fish from LR0 at 11:20
11:36 NC0 on the perch, LP8 eating
At around 11:52, LP8 walked away from the fish. NC0 jumped onto the nest to take the fish, she fed LP8
12:06ish LP8 decided it had finally had enough to eat and left the nest. A deer was at the water's edge (far left of pic)
LP8 headed off over and beyond the birch
NC0 continued to eat the remainder of the fish for herself. The deer turned and headed back into the trees
By 12:13ish, NC0 had finished the fish
At 12:15ish, she made a few contact calls and flew from the nest, landing on her favourite diving branch of the birch
At time of posting, it has been ENS ever since

I was watching, SANDRA, and went to do a snap of the whopper - only to find that Windows had stymied my network again and I couldn't access the recordings on LotL's laptop. This necessitated shutting everything down and rebooting all, and I haven't long got over it.
Anyway, on fetching up the footage at last I thought you might like a replay (with sound!) - there were some vague background noises (including a couple of cracks/gunshots?) and pregnant pauses and I found it all very interesting so you are being subjected to it
Full title = Fab fish! Is NC0 the loudest lady Osprey in the world?
We didn't get a good view of the fab fish on the way in, but here we can see the magnificent girth:
IMAGICAT
I don't know what those sounds were, Scylla. Fab video, thank you. Loved the slo-mo showing LP8's landing.
I think NC0 is most definitely the loudest and highest-pitched Osprey I've heard! LP8 can reach high decibels too! lol
14:30 It's raining. LP8 on the nest perch
14:44 LR0 landed on the nest, he had flown from the birch area. NC0 has been fish calling on the cam post
14:48 Deer calls could be heard from under the nest (possibly? a stag as well). LP8 and LR0 were interested
