Things continued to go well at the beginning of June and on the 4th, we celebrated a record nine fish delivery day from Laddie. During the following week, the number of fish brought to the nest took a sudden decline and with this, we witnessed chick #3 befalling to sibling aggression - first from chick #1 and then chick #2. Very sadly, this then led to the dear Osplet being blocked from getting close to NC0 for feeding. Devastatingly, after a very early fish delivery on the morning of the 15th June, the middle chick subjected the youngest to a severe attack from which, in its weakened state, it could not get up from. The little one passed away on the nest a few hours later at the age of 23 days old.
Soar high and free, brave #3 - you will always be remembered...
Subsequent to the passing of the youngest chick, fish deliveries from Laddie began to increase with him even outdoing his previous record by bringing an amazing ten to the nest on a single day. NC0 made her first dive from the split birch (since the chicks had hatched) on the 24th June and brought her catch back to the nest, much to the surprise of the chicks! The youngsters have continued to grow at an amazing rate and, on the evening of the 27th June - at the ages of 39 and 37 days old respectively - they were ringed. Their genders could not be determined. A milestone for the chicks was observed on the evening of the 29th June when both self-fed and the following day, LR0 showed its strength of character to successfully claim two fish!Hopefully, LP8 and LR0 will continue to do well and that we will witness their successful fledges this month.

20:46 A small fish from NC0, she flew onto the nest with it from behind the cam. Both LP8 and LR0 (right) were already waiting
LP8 grabbed hold of NC0's talons
LR0 snuck under NC0 to claim the fish
21:14 Laddie with a small 'live' fish. LR0 was on the nest to receive it. LP8 was on the birch
The fish flapped between the front edge sticks
LR0 retrieved it. By this time, LP8 had left the birch
LP8 arrived
21:25 LR0 still eating
LR0 finished the fish
21:35 LP8 remained on the nest after LR0 had left and has been calling for fish
21:48 Laddie with a small fish. NC0 down from the cam post, LP8 (who had already left the nest) flew in
NC0 claimed it
LP8 stole it
LR0, far left, flew towards the nest but then veered off and out of view
LP8 warned off NC0
LR0 down from the cam post
LP8 moved itself with the fish in its beak to the right of the nest
At one point, it looked as though LP8 was attempting to swallow the fish whole
Finally tucking in
00:10 LR0 asleep on the nest, NC0 on the perch
Morning all,
5:30 A huge, 'live' perch from Laddie. LR0 to the nest empty to take it
6:52 LPR stole the fish from LR0. No sooner had the juvie taken that, Laddie flew in with another. NC0 came down from the cam post to take it
LR0 received a top-up
7:13ish LR0 had eaten enough (I should think so too! lol) and left the nest
NC0 and LP8 continued to tuck in to their respective meals
7:43 LP8 stopped eating and flew off, leaving the remainder of Laddie's 5:30 delivery on the back edge of the nest
8:41 LP8 back to the nest (landed on the perch at first) and found the fish that it had left was still there
9:35ish LP8 gave up on the fish and left the nest
Within moments, NC0 flapped down from the cam post to retrieve the remaining fish
She looked around for a very short while...
...then flew off to the birch with it
