Things continued to go well at the beginning of June and on the 4th, we celebrated a record nine fish delivery day from Laddie. During the following week, the number of fish brought to the nest took a sudden decline and with this, we witnessed chick #3 befalling to sibling aggression - first from chick #1 and then chick #2. Very sadly, this then led to the dear Osplet being blocked from getting close to NC0 for feeding. Devastatingly, after a very early fish delivery on the morning of the 15th June, the middle chick subjected the youngest to a severe attack from which, in its weakened state, it could not get up from. The little one passed away on the nest a few hours later at the age of 23 days old.
Soar high and free, brave #3 - you will always be remembered...
Subsequent to the passing of the youngest chick, fish deliveries from Laddie began to increase with him even outdoing his previous record by bringing an amazing ten to the nest on a single day. NC0 made her first dive from the split birch (since the chicks had hatched) on the 24th June and brought her catch back to the nest, much to the surprise of the chicks! The youngsters have continued to grow at an amazing rate and, on the evening of the 27th June - at the ages of 39 and 37 days old respectively - they were ringed. Their genders could not be determined. A milestone for the chicks was observed on the evening of the 29th June when both self-fed and the following day, LR0 showed its strength of character to successfully claim two fish!Hopefully, LP8 and LR0 will continue to do well and that we will witness their successful fledges this month.

20:13 When the fish was all gone, NC0 fish called, left the nest and headed back to her diving branch on the birch

20:43 Another dive from NC0. She flew once again to the right over the Loch, did a u-turn and could be seen flying low on the left side past the trees on the far side. Out of view for a second and then headed back to land on the feeding post of the birch
NC0 left the feeding post and delivered her headless fish at 20:50
LR0 was given the tail end of the fish
Guess where NC0 headed off to when the feed was over? Yep, back to her diving perch! Will she catch a third?
20:58 Yes she did!
She was still on the birch
The LS jumped and she was then seen flying to the right, over the Loch, heading towards to the nest
Another jump on the LS and she had landed with a small fish. She gave her tail feathers a shake
After the feed, NC0 flew over to her birch perch again! Laddie delivered a good sized fish at 21:14. NC0 came back to the nest from the birch (noisily!) just before he arrived
21:35 NC0 continuing to feed the chicks
21:52 At present, NC0 is on her diving branch of the birch. LP8, left, and LR0 resting, as well they might after all the fish they've been eating this evening! lol
Funny that the latest Lowes’ blog came up after us just talking about it! Thanks for posting it Sandra.
Good morning Glider and all,
You're welcome, and yes, NC0 is an amazing Osprey!
7:37 LP8's wing stretch over LR0
Still waiting for the first fish of the day.
From scroll back. I can only find one (small) fish delivery so far and that was at 8:50, caught and delivered by NC0
She arrived from behind the cam to the left side of the nest
Giving herself a good shake
Up to the time of posting, I haven't seen Laddie.
Laddie delivered a fish to the waiting chicks at 13:48. NC0 was not around.
LP8 (left) eventually took it from Laddie and began to self-feed.
LR0 managed to quickly grab the fish when there was half of it remaining
