HAPPY NEW WEEK!
I hope everyone has a joyful week. The Brood X cicadas were screaming today on my patch. About a week ago, I noticed some big holes at the bottom of my trees. Various critters dig holes in my yard, so I didn't think much about it. Since then, I've seen articles about some of last year's Brood X cicadas popping up this year. Apparently, some of the bugs, called "stragglers," decided to sleep in, and they're appearing this year instead of last year. In most cases, it's because our soil didn't warm up to the required 64 degrees Fahrenheit until too late to wake them up in 2021. So, some of the noisy screechers decided to hit their snooze alarm and climb out this year instead!
An image sent to me, yesterday. Later, I found out that there was a little poem with it, with Her Majesty saying to Paddington, "Come home with me, for more marmalade sandwiches" Aw...
Today's instalment:
We left Olden with regret, as we had enjoyed it so much. After a decent meal, and a sit in a piano lounge with a nightcap, we got ready for another day of the fantastic scenery.
When we awoke, we had left the fjord and sailed south to the next one: Aurlandsfjord.
We sailed slowly and relished the views -- everywhere there was something stunning. We were in for a day which was to be a highlight of our trip.
We had a hasty breakfast and joined an excursion on the famous Flam Railway. Flam itself was a tiny place, and we only had to walk a hundred yards or so to the Station. I wish now I had taken a pic of it, but I made up for that by taking hundreds of pictures that day. This is the 1st one I took of the valley we left as the train climbed very steeply up the mountain. The guide told us that the track had been built over a period of years to connect the main line, high above us, with the coast below.
Sadly I did not bag a window seat and we all had to dodge each other for the best pictures.
1st big waterfall....
