Cirrus and Ann,
Samson is the missing male bald eagle partner of Gabrielle at NE Florida eagles (no eggs there). Harriet's partner is M15 at SW Florida eagles.
OH
Thank you Sandra (what else can a girl say when she is so far out of the loop. )
I could have been clearer - apologies to all who were misled re the 2 sets of Florida partners.
A brief sketch of recent history, totally from flaky memory:
SWFL
Harriet & Ozzie >>> Harriet & M15
A few years ago Ozzie went missing - he was found injured and CROW treated and rehabilitated him, but by the time he tried to pick up with H again she had taken up with a lovely young male M15, who had helped her stay safe in Ozzie's absence - despite her having a youngster in tow for a while. I think that M15 drove Ozzie away, the latter's revival did not last long.
NEFL
Romeo & Juliet >>> Samson & Gabrielle
After years of unchallenged ownership of the nest, suddenly they were subject to intense agression, particularly from a female - Juliet was driven off and no eaglets (only just hatched) survived, despite heroic efforts by Romeo assisted by a visiting female dubbed A2 (IIRC but it doesn't matter exactly). Eventually the nest was taken over by a new young male, who, the powers that be decided, was R&J's offspring Samson (his sister was Delilah, whereabouts unknown) and he was joined by none other than A2, who got called Gabrielle when the couple had firmly bonded.
NEFL 02 December
Another visitor for Gabrielle, she wasn't impressed and flew off leaving him on a branch. Was he mud-washed or was this a rare and interesting plumage variation?
Interesting - the male who visited 28 Nov was also dirty-headed, but in a different way:
