CAPTIVA OSPREYS - Andy & Lena

I'd been posting in "Forum Friends", here's a snap brought over, for the sake of starting this thread with something!

    Alyth

The "bedsheet" slipped off !!!  It seemed to fall straight down, couldn't see where it went - I just hope they don't find it and... Astonished

He returns now with a squashed plastic drinks bottle

I didn't recognise it as a drinks bottle until the closer look:

    More interaction with nest junk:

    Tweed Valley

Cam was good all day, and quite a bit of zooming in.

    Female:

    Fish ahoy!

He's about to incubate, looking at her up in the tree with fish:

    One on each pole:

    Tweed Valley

Tech-wise, a fragmented morning but a stable afternoon.  Osprey-wise, it looked like a good day:

    At closing time:

    Alyth

Where's all the rubbish gone?!  Didn't see any of that happen (except the main portion of "bedhseet", of course).  However it happened, let's keep it this way Angry

    FISH:

    Lunch on the nest:

All of a sudden, this emerged Persevere

Then this was brought in !!!

She took over and sorted her precious nest materials:

Supper arriving, see his satisfied crop:

    Tweed Valley

Somewhat fragmented but some long sessions too.

    Early fish:

Must have been small, she was soon back to take over:

    Mid-afternoon fish:

    He's about to turn eggs:

Near closing time he'd brought in a tiny clump one-fisted, then decided to sort existing awkward stick:

  • Thank you, Scylla, things are looking good at Tweed Valley :)

Do you think the Alyth nest had been 'cleared'? Odd to see everything gone and no Ospreys on the nest in your pic...

That was a fairly brief changeover that I took advantage of to show there was no obvious junk on the nest.  Then more junk started appearing.

Today, sticks and clumps have been brought in, quite a few - is hatching time close?  Don't know when the eggs were laid.

Samples of nest material, there were several more:

A book was opened up by the wind!

The "balsa wood" log got blown off - the wind sounds as bad as LG here:

Lots more non-fish deliveries to the nest

I think these are quite soft sticks he's brought in before and she broke up:

    Caused some co-operation today:

This was a rather solid item, not the usual type of clump:

    Otherwise, several stick/twiggy/strawy deliveries.

The red can is still there, it gets unearthed every now 'n then.

  • Rosie always writes an entertaining blog. It's brilliant to read that Samson finally is breeding!

    Tweed Valley

The sitter went flyabout soon after opening time, here it's returning:

Turning the eggs and looking around:

Fish!  Sitter had gone flyabout again so the fish-bringer took over incubation at this point:

    Fish collected:

    Having a stretch mid-incubation:

Eating and fish and pooping on high pole:

    Nestorising:
