As the 2021 Osprey season at Loch of the Lowes enters its final stage, it is reassuring to know how very well LR1 and LR2 are faring in the build-up to their first migration. Laddie (LM12) and NC0 (who, it is thought, will soon start her long journey south) are continuing to provide for, and protect, these wonderful (and loud!), young juveniles. Last month, it was fantastic to see the confidence in both LR1 and LR2 when they took to the sky for the first time, as well as watching them practise their spectacular diving skills into the Loch - sights to behold! With only a short number of precious weeks that we have remaining viewing Laddie, NC0 and their family on the webcam, let us hope everything continues to go well.
LR2 (96 days old) left the perch and flew towards and then over the birch at 8:24ish
10:25ish Laddie with a headless fish. LR2 flew onto the nest from across the Loch, Laddie was just behind him flying from the left
He stood with his fish for a little while before one of his 'enemies' flew towards the nest
Shoo!
LR2 took his fish off to his branch on the birch

16:17 LR2 screeched onto the nest from the front right. Alarm calling and an overhead intruder? seen flying from behind to then left past the nest
Intruder? overhead
If it was an intruder, it may have landed above the cam. LR2 did look up in that direction on a few occasions but was also fish calling
Intruder? wing, top right, on flyaway
LR2 was quite clam after whoever it was had flown off, taking time to preen and look around
Must have been hot on the nest as he was panting
Wing stretch
He jumped onto the perch doing much the same thing before flying off at 17:05ish. He landed on his branch of the birch
LR2 came back to the perch at 17:40ish and stayed there for almost 15 minutes. When leaving he didn't head to the birch but landed back up to the cam post
Something caught his interest
He made a few alarm calls before leaving
18:16 He flapped down to the nest, shouting
At time of posting, is still on the perch
Continuing on...
He moved onto the nest where he fish called
Then back to the perch
18:52 LR2 headed off to his favourite spot on the birch
He fish called for a short while before flying down low and then off to the left behind the birch
19:44 Back to the nest. LR2 could be heard approaching and landed briefly (fish calling) above the cam before flapping his way down. He only stayed a couple of minutes
19:47 Back again far less than a minute after leaving
Lots of preening
20:21
Off he went at 20:32. LR2 flew in the direction of the birch then veered off left around it and out of view
20:43 LR2 could be heard shouting for fish above the cam. Continuing at 20:47
20:56 A huge headless fish from Laddie! LR2 had only left the cam post and headed to the birch moments before
LR2 flight away from cam post at 20:55
A minute after - Laddie with his fish. LR2 inbound (very vocal!)
Laddie heading off low around the birch
When he left the nest with it, he headed towards the birch but then did a u-turn and flew from left to right over the Loch until out of cam view, letting all in the area know that he had his supper!
