As the 2021 Osprey season at Loch of the Lowes enters its final stage, it is reassuring to know how very well LR1 and LR2 are faring in the build-up to their first migration. Laddie (LM12) and NC0 (who, it is thought, will soon start her long journey south) are continuing to provide for, and protect, these wonderful (and loud!), young juveniles. Last month, it was fantastic to see the confidence in both LR1 and LR2 when they took to the sky for the first time, as well as watching them practise their spectacular diving skills into the Loch - sights to behold! With only a short number of precious weeks that we have remaining viewing Laddie, NC0 and their family on the webcam, let us hope everything continues to go well.
At 15:40ish, LR2 was being bothered by a corvid (as has happened on and off throughout his 3 and a half hours of eating so far). .NC0 left the birch, where she had been sitting since redelivering the fish, and flew towards, and then beneath, the nest.
16:04 Carrying on with his meal
LR1 and Laddie haven't made an appearance at all as far as I can tell. I hope they're both ok.
*I last saw Laddie on cam at 5:23 yesterday morning. As for LR1, she had flown off from above the cam and headed over to, and then beyond, the birch at around 20:30 last night* These are just my observations.
LR1 - 90 days old, LR2 - 88 days old

Hi Patily,
Yes, I wonder what spooked him?
He was having a doze shortly before that
He appeared to continue to fly directly left of those far trees and then out of cam view. Thankfully, he took the remainder of his fish with him!
Very shortly after, there was a landing on top of the 2nd left branch of the birch, quite vocal, so I assume that was LR2
Wings open here...
18:15 Laddie!!! He brought in some nesting material. Sounded like LR2 screeching from the birch
Laddie flew off at 18:20
LR2, if indeed it was him, left his branch on the birch and headed low into the middle bushy section of that area moments after.

I wouldn't blame him, Wendy! lol Anyway, he came back at 19:50 with a huge headless fish!
LR2 arrived from the birch (screeching) still with his fish in talons! NC0 on her birch branch
Laddie took off with his catch - he headed towards and then beyond the birch. NC0 remained on her birch branch. LR2 shouted at a corvid who flew away
LR2 remained on the nest to continue eating
Still no sign of LR1. I wonder if Laddie will find her if she's in the area?
20:36 LR2 has been staring silently in this direction for quite a while - I wonder what/who he is watching?
