As the 2021 Osprey season at Loch of the Lowes enters its final stage, it is reassuring to know how very well LR1 and LR2 are faring in the build-up to their first migration. Laddie (LM12) and NC0 (who, it is thought, will soon start her long journey south) are continuing to provide for, and protect, these wonderful (and loud!), young juveniles. Last month, it was fantastic to see the confidence in both LR1 and LR2 when they took to the sky for the first time, as well as watching them practise their spectacular diving skills into the Loch - sights to behold! With only a short number of precious weeks that we have remaining viewing Laddie, NC0 and their family on the webcam, let us hope everything continues to go well.
10:33 Dive from the middle area of the birch. It was one of the juveniles judging by the excited calls on its flight away
It headed around the far side of the Loch
Then back to the birch area where it had dived from. Whether it caught a fish or not is not known

A catch up since this morning...
No fish deliveries seen. LR2 has been on and off the nest this afternoon defending a possible unseen intruder.
However, at around 15:35 there was a fly past the nest, lots of screeching heard, a brief thought of an attempted landing close to the left perch but flew off. Was this an intruder or one of the juveniles?
Flight from the right of the nest
Blue ring, left leg?
It went completely silent until LR2 approached, and then come onto, the nest to defend a minute or so after.
He did leave again, around 25ish minutes later, and returned 10 minutes or so after to once again defend
16:07
19:40 LR1 flapped down onto the nest from above the cam where she had been fish calling (first time I've seen her since around 9:30). LR2 had been on the nest and shouting too! Could there be an adult on the birch?
No sightings of Laddie at the nest at all since very early this morning. No visits from NC0
LR1 or LR2 didn't receIve a fish this evening. Perhaps Laddie and NC0 (if she's still here) were too busy defending their territory. Hopefully both juveniles are presented with fish tomorrow.
Good morning, LR2 on the nest at present. He flapped down from above the cam (8:20) and began to shout/mantle for a short while - all calm on any threat front now and he is shouting for fish It wasn't his first visit, he arrived at 5:20ish and spent 40 minutes there before heading off to the low birch area.
10:28 LR2 still on the nest fish calling
No one else around and, other than his calling, it is completely silent
10:46 NC0 with an absolutely huge, live fish!
Lots of wing action as LR2 tried to make a claim
Another salmon?
BUT she flew off with it just as he was about to grab the fish!
He took his frustrations out on a corvid (twice!) that flew onto the perch. NC0 landed on the low middle section of the birch.
Hopefully, once she's had her fill, she will redeliver it!
Oh fantastic! NC0 brought her fish back for LR2 at 12:09, duly deheaded!
NC0 flew off
LR2 couldn't hide his delight! NC0 on top of the far left branch of the birch
12:22 Making little squeals as he is tucking in
No sign of LR1 or Laddie
