As the 2021 Osprey season at Loch of the Lowes enters its final stage, it is reassuring to know how very well LR1 and LR2 are faring in the build-up to their first migration. Laddie (LM12) and NC0 (who, it is thought, will soon start her long journey south) are continuing to provide for, and protect, these wonderful (and loud!), young juveniles. Last month, it was fantastic to see the confidence in both LR1 and LR2 when they took to the sky for the first time, as well as watching them practise their spectacular diving skills into the Loch - sights to behold! With only a short number of precious weeks that we have remaining viewing Laddie, NC0 and their family on the webcam, let us hope everything continues to go well.
Good morning, ENS Both youngsters have been seen individually - LR2 on the perch, LR1 on the nest. Fish is yet to be delivered
Laddie brought a stick to the nest just before 9am
The juveniles flew from the birch to the nest - LR1 left, LR2 top right
He didn't stay long!
Both stayed on the nest. Hmm, watching corvids?
LR2 was the first to leave
LR1 stayed on the nest for a further 25 minutes or so
Then took flight at 9:30ish
She zoomed past the left side of the nest

10:08 LR2 has been on the perch for the past 15 minutes
10:10 A small, live fish from Laddie, LR2 claimed it before LR1 (who had landed on the nest just prior to delivery)
Enjoying his breakfish
12:57 Another small fish from Laddie, an LR came to the nest to claim it (Edit - It was LR1)
Taken, in her right talons, to the birch
There was another small fish from Laddie at 13:12 - LR1, again, had this one. She was on the nest (after flying from the birch) and LR2 was on the perch prior to Laddie's delivery
She grabbed Laddie's talons at first
Then took the fish
Eating on the nest

I've got a fish, you haven't

You're very welcome, Korky
LR2 was due to have the next fish so was pleased to see that he'd managed to take this one
Here's Laddie's 14:47 delivery - it really was a tiddler but considering the weather (pouring with rain at the time), it's surprising he caught anything at all
