As the 2021 Osprey season at Loch of the Lowes enters its final stage, it is reassuring to know how very well LR1 and LR2 are faring in the build-up to their first migration. Laddie (LM12) and NC0 (who, it is thought, will soon start her long journey south) are continuing to provide for, and protect, these wonderful (and loud!), young juveniles. Last month, it was fantastic to see the confidence in both LR1 and LR2 when they took to the sky for the first time, as well as watching them practise their spectacular diving skills into the Loch - sights to behold! With only a short number of precious weeks that we have remaining viewing Laddie, NC0 and their family on the webcam, let us hope everything continues to go well.
16:30 LR2 took his fish off the nest and, as he did so, a corvid hopped onto the nest to scavenge
He'd flapped over to the centre of the nest before heading off
Edit - Two corvids were pottering about on the nest a little while after this. LR1 flapped down from above the cam to make sure they stayed away!

Hi Geemeff, thank you so much for the videos!
Edit - LR2 lost his fish over the side the next morning (5.8.21) - another one of Laddie's 'live' deliveries
It's a good thing both Laddie and NC0 are bringing fish now with the amount of accidental discards. Great screenshots Sandra!
Yes absolutely. I've not seen NC0 so far today but hopefully she is still around. Many thanks, Geemeff!
LR2 returned with his fish 16:44ish. He mantled and alarm called on landing
Continued to eat his fish
He has been very wary
16:54
17:27 LR2 making good progress
17:40 LR2 took his fish off to the birch. There was/is someone above the perch who had been calling but when he made his flight, whoever it was/is began to chip and alarm call
Edit - it was LR1 as she flapped down to the nest to remove a Raven which had flown from the birch
17:50 She flew off and the Raven came back onto the nest
17:55ish LR1 came back to the nest, a silent approach, while a Raven was pottering around
She made, what I can only describe as, nasally grunts
It flew off
She stayed on the nest, occasionally fish calling, until leaving around at 18:10
BFN
NC0 made an appearance on the nest just after 18:40, she was wet. Initially, she had flown across the Loch and headed to and over the birch, where it appeared both juveniles were, then did a u-turn to land on the nest - she was carrying a small and slim live fish with her.
She sounded a couple of short calls on landing
LR1 made her flight to the nest and food solicited with NC0 looking quite reluctant to offer anything
The fish was alive
A shake of her feathers
NC0 fed herself a couple of bits
Then LR1 attempted to steal it from her. There was no animosity from NC0 and just pulled her leg (and fish) back
NC0 did, eventually, feed her several bites - as well as herself - and even gave LR1 the fish tail before leaving and heading to the birch
LR1 swallowing the fish tail
LR1 remained on the nest until flying off just over 5 minutes after NC0
It was ENS until LR1 returned at 19:57ish. She fish called, perhaps it was NC0 on her branch on the birch, as well as rested for the almost 30 minutes she spent on the nest before leaving and landing on the left birch branch
20:53ish Fish delivery by Laddie - LR1 landed on the nest to receive it
His flight (lower box) from beyond the birch area
It seemed to take an age for LR1 to take the fish from Laddie
There wasn't much chance of seeing the fish
LR2 arrived flying from the middle branch of the birch
Both stood quiet and looking at something
LR1 took flight with her fish
LR2 remained on the nest/perch with calls for fish
He left at 21:00 heading towards the birch but then headed off right
