12.7.21 - LR2 fledged at 53 days old, c17:40 Blog: LR2 fledges
From little 'fluff balls' to almost fully grown ospreys, LR1 and LR2 are doing amazingly well all thanks to the fantastic ongoing care from NC0 and Laddie (LM12). Not only have we seen Laddie providing fish for his family but NC0 has been successful several times just recently as well - what first-class parents they are! There continues to be the occasional intrusion from ospreys passing through, however, the nest and chicks have been protected outstandingly. We look forward to the next exciting phase in the young ospreys' development.
15:35 LR1 was shouting on the nest, NC0 delivered, what I assume to be, the fish she had been 'looking after'.
Off she went with it
Moments after, she cam back with the fish, proudly broadcasting the fact that she had one! lol
To the back of the nest
Then off again
NC0 took flight shortly after

LR2 to the nest with a small fish at 17:40ish. He flew (excitedly calling) from beyond the birch before arriving. There hasn't been a recent delivery to the nest!
Question is, did he catch this himself or was there a handover off nest?
A shake of his feathers which appeared to be wet underneath
He swallowed the fish tail shortly after the last pic
Edit - I've since scrolled back a minute or two prior to LR2 coming to the nest. There was a flight away from above the cam, whoever it was appeared to have a fish in its talons. It flew beyond the birch and there sounded like quite a bit of commotion so, possibly an off-nest handover if it had been an adult above the cam?
LR1 made a brief appearance shortly after LR2 had finished his fish
Just before 19:30, Laddie delivered a huge fish, LR1 (front) and LR2 were already waiting on the nest.
LR2 took the fish
He guarded it very well from LR1
Still tucking in at 20:10
20:22 LR1 went for an attempt at a steal but LR2 didn't allow that to happen
20:29 LR2 walked away from the fish and flew off the nest at 20:30
.
LR1 almost ran over to the discarded fish! lol. Now tucking in
20:39 Still eating
21:00 LR1 is really enjoying her supper!
21:23 LR1 was struggling with the fish tail and a piece of attached skin when she was disturbed. She flew off nest with the remainder of her meal in her right talons and the culprit, a Raven, jumped on
LR1's flight (left)
Morning all
Breakfish was served by Laddie at 6:32. LR1 (left) and LR2 were on the nest waiting
There was a scramble to claim it, LR1 grabbed Laddie's talons, LR2 snuck round the back to pick up the live fish
LR2 has been tucking in since then, flying off nest with it a short time ago and landed back but onto the perch where he is still eating. LR1 continues to wait
7:10 NC0 to the nest with a stick, much to the annoyance of LR1 who was expecting a fish
