12.7.21 - LR2 fledged at 53 days old, c17:40 Blog: LR2 fledges
From little 'fluff balls' to almost fully grown ospreys, LR1 and LR2 are doing amazingly well all thanks to the fantastic ongoing care from NC0 and Laddie (LM12). Not only have we seen Laddie providing fish for his family but NC0 has been successful several times just recently as well - what first-class parents they are! There continues to be the occasional intrusion from ospreys passing through, however, the nest and chicks have been protected outstandingly. We look forward to the next exciting phase in the young ospreys' development.

16:55 Laddie delivered a fish to a waiting NC0

LR1 came to the nest from across the Loch (behind the nest). NC0 started a feed
LR2 flew from the birch to the nest
17:06 LR2 waiting for his turn though he has already recently eaten
17:10 Meal over
17:50 NC0 spent 4 minutes or so defending the nest from an unseen intruder
She was alarm calling from above the cam the flew off (top left)
Back to the nest
17:54 She took flight and headed to the far side of the Loch, behind the nest

21:10 There was a 'live' fish delivery from Laddie. What a melee there was between NC0 and LR1 to claim it!
The fish almost flapped overboard
NC0 claimed it...
...but LR1 was having none of that and went for a steal. NC0's talons were still in the fish as LR1 tried to take it
LR2 managed to take his share
LR2 swallowing the tail
I took this at 22:05 just to show the back of head markings, LR1 on the left, LR2 is noticeably darker
22:28 ENS. NC0, LR1 and LR2 are on the birch
22:40 NC0 and LR2 on the nest. LR1, I assume, is still on the middle branch of the birch
Just after 23:00, NC0 left the nest and landed on a lower right branch of the birch
She came back a short time after with a very twiggy stick
LR2 took flight just after 23:10. NC0 had already left the nest
23:15 I think this is NC0 who returned to the perch and, if so, LR1 and LR2 could be spending their first night off the nest
LR1 grabbed it:

Morning Scylla and all LR1 and LR2 did spend their first night away from the nest. Breakfish (as reported by Scylla) was delivered by NC0. After her dive from the birch, she returned to one of the branches? but then headed to the nest with the fish once LR1 had joined LR2
A rather wet looking NC0 came to the empty nest at around 5:30 with a small headless fish. She ate this herself
