Ringing Blog >>> Meet our newly ringed osprey chicks - LR1 and LR2
Last month, we saw all three chicks hatch but unfortunately, the third one very sadly passed away after surviving for just over two full days. Laddie and NC0 continue to nurture their two remaining chicks. Long may the good weather, as well as Laddie’s effective hunting, persist so we can continue to watch these wonderful osplets thrive.
Birdies LG DU update.
I'm on my lunch break but have found a couple of events up to around 9:15
Fish delivery at 8:43ish

Great capture Sandra. Looks to be an un ringed Male?
There was a sequence around this time. The intruder seemed to fly over, circle right and then appear over the Loch near the dead trees before heading for the nest.
It happened three times that I saw.
Following on from the initial intrusion, as Mike stated, the intruder didn't give up and was seen on a few occasions flying around. This was another close encounter

As soon as Laddie left the nest, the cam zoomed in on NC0 and the chicks
Laddie was back at the nest at around 10:20ish defending from an unseen intruder. Both he and NC0 were chipping/alarm calling and mantling
11:35ish Cam zoomed in on the chicks after NC0 took a break
13:25 Fish delivery
Part way into the feed, Laddie could be heard chipping; NC0 mantled
14:40 Another fish from Laddie
16:10 NC0 left the nest. While the chicks were alone, possible sky dancing calls could be heard at one point
16:54 Scene at present
That's my brief overview of the day so far but I may have missed things! lol Going to make a coffee. BBL
17:16 Fish!
Watching Laddie's flight away
17:30 Another close up view of the chicks - just beautiful!

Thanks MIKE for capturing that image of NC0 this morning
Chicks currently being fed admist their excited squeals
IMHO there is one male and one female Female on the R here Is that the same thoughts as you SANDRA?
C SWT Loch of the Lowes
Oh yes, Patily. I have the same thoughts as you - #1 (on the right in your pic) being a female; #2 male. #2 is the same age as the eldest Dyfi chick and as Mike posted on that thread, those babes will be ringed this week. Hope ours are soon as well.
Here is the fish delivery from which NC0 was feeding the chicks - 18:17.
